The Daily News stole the Empire State Building yesterday by filing a phony deed (Fay Wray, of King Kong fame, was listed as one of the witnesses). Once you have a deed in your name, the article points out, you can go on to get a mortgage on the place, pocket the cash and skedaddle. Could that happen here? It seems to me that it could, quite easily. Forge a deed, file it with the Town Clerk and presto! You’re the owner, for awhile, as far as lenders know. Hmmm. I’m going to send this post to my pals, the Kaye boys (that would be Joel and Jeremy), real estate lawyers to the stars, and see if they know better. If not, real estate being slow and all that, perhaps they’d like to join me in a new venture.

Isn’t that similar to the scam perpetrated by that poor fellow who met an unfortunate end on Dairy Road?
As I recall, his scheme was to file forged mortgage satisfaction documents.
