This is why we have jails, isn’t it?

The Colorado woman who killed two Riverside residents this week turns out to have a previous DUI conviction. No surprise there – judging from her other activities: conviction for running a pyramid scam, for instance, I’m sure she’s an alcoholic drug user from way back. What is troubling is that Colorado had a chance to save two worthwhile lives by merely enforcing its own laws. The drunk was supposed to be staying sober and reporting for alcohol counseling during her probation for her first conviction. She didn’t show up for the counseling, failed drug and alcohol tests and was clearly in violation of her sentence restrictions. No one yanked her off the street so two people are dead. Bad move.
