Now even Wall Street Wizards can learn a simple truth

timex_2ndBloomberg breaks the news: Luxury watches are a luxury to maintain. That $100,000 Chrono/zlognik/Aintitbig? thing you’ve been wearing at power lunches (do they still have power lunches, or was that an 80s thing?) is going to cost you an arm and a leg to service – surprise!

I buy $20 Timexes, wear ‘em for 3-4 years and toss them when they stop. The watch won’t impress the ladies but my bulging wallet will.

Hmmm . . . When Bernie mailed out all those watches, was he trying to economize, or screw his friends all over again?

Read part of the Bloomberg link, and ABSOLUTELY refuse to believe the big boo-hoo that the high-end watchmakers don’t make any money on repairs. Yeah, right, they just do it out of civic duty.

I have to assume that high-end retail jewelry stores are really suffering these days, but I find it hard to care. It’s just been too tedious for too many years to go in to one and find the counter manned by Baron/Baroness von Snotwell, who doesn’t realize that he/she/it is on the wrong side of the counter to be doing the faux ancestral von Snotwell aristocratic disdain routine.
