Perhaps because it’s election day and the schools are closed, or perhaps because sellers have given up, the “Open House” list today has nothing one it: one page of recycled listings, period. The sole exception is this house up on the Armonk border:
The owners paid $2.5 million for it in 2003, have done nothing to it since their purchase and have listed it today for $3.195. Assessment is $2.4. It looks like a lovely house, but I’ll save my gasoline today.
The usual fall market runs at least two more weeks into November but judging from what’s being listed these days (nothing) and the miniscule price cuts existing homes are taking, it seems that sellers have decided to hunker down and wait until spring. That’s a great idea unless, of course, prices continue to drop, which I think they will.

A very nice home I’m sure, but it looks as if it should have “See Rock City” painted on it’s barn-style roof. Oh wait, that would violate the no signs or advertisement thingy, nevermind!!
