From 90% to 71%. Presumably the least qualified didn’t show up this year and their low scores didn’t drag down those of others. And sleeping late on a Saturday morning makes sense: why plan on college at a zillion dollars a year when you aren’t suited for it and there are no jobs waiting for you if you graduate? Which brings up, again, my gripe about the high school disbanding its non-college curriculum – there are excellent jobs available for kids who aren’t academically inclined yet we do nothing to prepare them for that avenue. Bring back auto shop.

Responsible parents shouldn’t have more kids than they can afford to raise and educate
And parents and kids should be working to develop job-relevant skills both in HS and in choice of a job-relevant college/major: 99% of Harvard’s undergrads lack any useful job skills after 4 yrs and $250K of lib arts “education”
Fairly silly for moron parents and kids to blame overpaid commie educators for eventual underemployment of kids after many yrs and many bucks wasted on an education that’s irrelevant to desirable employers

“Responsible parents shouldn’t have more kids than they can afford to raise and educate”
If all ‘poor’ people became ‘responsible parents’ and refrained from expanding their family, who will wipe your .. Ermmm ..face.. when you are too old to do it ?
It is your responsibility NOW, to ensure that families can freely raise their children on their tight budgets and ensure that education is available for the children in your community so that when they are older, they don’t give dispense Valium when you need Nifedipine.
Vote for the death panels and the care that you expect (none).
why show up? after last nights vote and few short days from now (senate) everything will be covered for you…
why work hard to try and find employment?
Jr high shops – training ground for the $50,000 / year job welder or kitchen maker. They no longer exist at Western Jr High. Looking at the economy, these guys built more small businesses than the hedge funders can keep up with.
State just threw Wright Tech on the trash heap, no?
Quite frankly, I think everyone, academic superstar or not, needs some basic everyday skills whether it is cooking for oneself, learning how to fix a busted pipe or change a tire.
Greenwich Gal,
Did you finally tell that husband of yours to stop treating you as his dogsbody?
cubicle’s are the 20th and 21st century sweatshop.
I prefer working with my hands to shuffling papers around all day or staring at a computer screen.
it’s actually satisfying
School officials say two factors are likely to blame for the unexpected decline in participation — a “loophole” in a new SAT registration procedure and growing popularity of a lesser-known college exam, the American College Test.
Colleges now accept the ACT test just like the SAT yet if you take the ACT with writing you don’t have to take the SAT and then 2 SAT Subject tests. Years ago, the ACT was more popular in the Midwest than at the coasts.
Anon at 12:27…are you insane? What the*** is a “dogsbody?” I suppose you are under the mistaken impression that I am treated poorly or like anything other than the Greenwich housewife I am because I have a little fun at men’s expense. Rest assured, I am VERY well kept. As our dear readers would expect, for sure, I just happen to be a Greenwich housewife with a very level head and an appreciation for the moral benefits of hard work. After all, it is what pays the Frederic Fekkai bill.
Atta girl, GG – I had complete faith that you could put the writer in his place.
Those higher SAT scores don’t translate to wins on the gridiron. Tough loss this past weekend to the wholesomites from New Canaan.
