Goldman pahdnahs packing heat in New York City. Ordinarily, I believe that the more gun-totting citizens the safer the city, but the thought of a mob of scurrying little nervous investment bankers with itchy trigger fingers makes me think I’ll stay here in the suburbs for a while. Can’t these guys carry assault rifles like their Swiss counterparts do? Then we’d know who to watch.

Any paranoid “partner” can easily afford (on own dime) to be driven around in an S550 w/an ex-NYPD driver/bodyguard who presumably knows how to use a gun (the driving part is more dubious…)
Funny that hedgies who earn more in a yr than ole Blankie is worth on a good day have little armed security in their daily lives…or that of their rugrats

great seeing stuff like the denninger rant. good to know that personal responsibility is dead. it’s not the guy who borrows or the babe who charges what she can’t pay for … it’s the bank that made the loan and the credit card issuer who are to blame. and the reason we have the congress now in office is that guys like denninger vote.

While denniger is a nut ball, in a properly working capitalist system, credit would be extended to the credit worthy, while those without good credit would be denied. When the government decides to make the banks whole (at the taxpayers’ expense) for their poor lending practices, then I find it much less distasteful if joe 6 pack decides not to repay his debts
While the article is poorly written and sensationalist in nature, the real bottom line is goldman is awarding 21billion in bonuses while still sitting on 30billion in fresh FDIC backed loans and 13billion in undeserved 100-cents-on-the-dollar CDS payments courtesy of the taxpayer. If not packing heat, they should at least hide from public view.
How is it that Bloomberg has killed trans-fats and tobacco, but enabled this?
Last time I checked, getting a handgun concealed carry permit in NYC was impossible. I mean, I knew a prosperous guy in the seafood business who lived in Manhattan and did cash business in Port Newark and Rhode Island, and HE couldn’t get one! If Goldman doofusses are buying their way into such privileges, the fact that they CAN do so is far more worrisome than the fact that they WANT to do so.
Goldman’s entire building gets H1N1 vaccines while asthmatic children and pregnant women wait! Gun permits are just the tip of the iceberg.
