Here’s why I’m a Greenwich Ex-Pat: my fave is the one on the left, even if it is T-111′ed to death. It gives the folks living in the other two someone to look down on.
What does a place like that go for in Greenwich these days?
CF, you are simply proving the point that you are a snob.
Besides Abe Lincoln’s cabin that you threw in there for fun, there is nothing objectionable about the other two. They actually look really nice and match the style of a lot of other homes in places that you don’t find objectionable. If you are going to take the time to write a post and then try to defend the indefensible, then at least provide some credible evidence.
But, you post was not completely useless because it brings up the issue of architecture in town. What I find amazing is that people can spend many millions of dollars on homes that simply look like somebody pressed the 400% button on the copying machine. Why, for example, would someone pay almost $20 million dollars for Tommy Hilfiger’s place when it looks just like any other colonial-albeit massively super-sized and in a “desirable” location.
You can thank me later for saving your pathetic posting.
CF,
Dead right. I hate both Cat Rock and even Cognewaugh. My god, driving these in winter is a nightmare! The houses are a mismash (sic) from one end to the other.
I own the house in the middle. Stock photo from Zillow, or wherever, certainly not in the last two years. Had an email exchange with Chris a few months ago where he agreed to provide some thoughts on best use of cash (basement, attic, other investment property etc)….still waiting for him to provide his thoughts…..guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer. Won’t stop me reading this blog every day – love it.
At least they aren’t jammed into Riverside 100′ x 100′ “lots.”

All three are nicer than my garbage can.
Dont be a house snob CF. It doesnt match your wardrobe or choice in auto transportation.
(ut-oh, did i cross a line?)
So you give up something in architectural beauty in exchange for the pleasure of driving on Cat Rock.
