Email from a client who has become a friend. Sorry, pal, I forgot to mention the professionalism of our police force when selling you that house; you’ll get used to it.
My alarm goes off today and I get a call from my alarm company. There
weren’t supposed to be any workers at the house so I had them dispatch
the police. I call a couple of hours later and this is the response:Police – “Greenwich Police”
Me – “Yes, my alarm went off today and I had the police dispatched. I
would like a report”Police – “You need to get that report from your alarm company”
Me – “They don’t have a report so I would like to get one”
Police – “Well, Only the security company can get a report”
Me- “So what you are saying is that my alarm went off at my house, I had
the police dispatched and you can’t give me a report on my own house??”Police – “That’s correct sir”
Me- “You have to be kidding”
Police- “No sir, you have to have your security company call”
Unbelievable!!!

my experience was similarly frustration. car was parked at the beach last fall, near the concession stand. came back after an hour on the beach and the rear quarterpanel was badly damaged. saw a police car and told him about it; he asked if i knew which cars were parked near mine while at the beach. i did not. he then asked what i wanted him to do. i said i wanted him to make a report so that the department would have the data to make sensible assignments; also, maybe to install cameras at the gatehouse so they could see which cars left the beach with a dent and gray paint. he told me to call it in. i did… and the office who eventually returned the call said they did not take reports of damage to cars at the beach, because there was virtually no chance they could help. in other words, ‘we only take reports of crimes we can solve — it helps our statistics as a safe town’. insane.
Taxes are much higher in Scarsdale NY or Short Hills NJ but doubt cops are any more competent
Just imagine how frustrated you’ll be (on your cloud) when you’re murdered and the Greenwich cops clear it by declaring it a suicide. But until then, you’ll feel so safe living in a town without crime!
I had a cop once suggest I “settle privately” with the guy who hit my PARKED car. Seriously? Acted like I was the biggest jerk for making him fill out the paperwork, which is of course required by the insurance company. And the guy who hit my car didn’t have his drivers license with him. Did he get a ticket? Of course not. I just got attitude from the cop.
So do we eliminate cops and instill vigilante justice? Or do we pay cops more to make them give a shit? I’m okay either way.
you got attitude and he/she get pension….any questions? ANY QUESTIONS?
pay cops more? you gotta be kidding. it’s already the plum job in all of new england. if you think raising pay will raise quality, you need to be a manager in the nba.
