They figured we Fountains are experts on the subject

Pinch must read this blog!  Henry Fountain of the NYT takes on cow poop in the Science Section. Way to go, c’uz – I’ll expect a nice note of gratitude later.

Gotta love the “Zamboni, but one that has crossed over to the dark side” comparison. The Zambonis must be sorry they didn’t think of it themselves.

(Is Henry really a relative, CF?)

The Fountains seem OK in my book, please keep up the good work. We are, of course, shoveling something against the tide but at least we are shoveling…

Another day, another bullsh*t article in the Times.

Due to farmer control of Albany, the NY City drinking water standards have been very cow friendly. Very, very cow friendly.

Which is why, without benefit of filtration, cow poop (and all that that entails) is still being deposited directly into the drinking water supply.

Just drive up Rt 22 or a hundred other roads that pass through the reservoir district, and look for yourself.

Greenwich doesn’t escape either. Just check on a drainage map where the manure wastes from the White Birch or Lion-Share Farms flow – right into the Bargh Reservoir, which is pumped directly to Putnam Lake, unfiltered.

Think I’ll go boil some acorns now.

Chief, get a grip. After we get rid of the pooping cows, do we then collect the deer from the woods and the fish in the streams (who piss and crap directly into our water everyday!!).

The reality is we already have more than adequate controls in place on water quality and as a result a water system that is the envy of the world.

NYC’s pending water clamity wont be from poop, but rather when the either one of the aging Delaware or Catskill aquaduct tunnels collapse, severely limiting the city’s water.

Cobber places too much trust in chlorine and too little in 19th century civil engineering.

When Chief’s children were sick with broad-spectrum salmonella, technician arrived at Chief’s tee-pee to sample water supply. Chief told her family drank only from Greenwich Water Company’s pipe. Health Dept lady laughed, and took samples back to Town Hall for checking.

Chief later learned that chlorine depends upon filtration to have unimpeded access to bacteria and virus in water. Soil colloids and other solid components allow safe haven for harboring pathogens.

Chief, I suggest you install a home water filtration system if you have a sensitivity to Gwich water. Its a more sensible solution than a campaign to stop all animals from pooping in the watershed.

  7. Chief Sachem

Chief sprung immediately for 5-micron filter system. However, Chief suspects you sell filter systems too.

  8. Cos Cobber

Yes I sell both manure and filters.

I suggest you bypass the micron scale and go straight to a yocto filter.

Chief has been waiting to learn next order of magnitude below pico- due to natural progression of technology:

Chief thinks water no pass this filter, so chief will stick to boiled acorns.

    You have jumped the game:

Subdivisions of powers of 10 going down:
Name deci- centi- milli- micro- nano- pico- femto- atto- zepto- yocto-
