That’s vintage, we now have them mounted on Escalades and Panamera’s

    Actually, that’s a Porsche “924″.

Good thing there’s heated roads & driveways in mid/backcountry. Only plebes need to plow.

Eh – I was thrown off by the snow blade!

  5. Cos Cobber

We’ll be moving to ban heated driveways at the next RTM meeting. We cannot have mid country missing out on our redistributive snowfall events.

In the good old days (that would be the late 60s) kids could pick up good money by going down at night to the town maintenance sheds during snowstorms and signing up to work on the sand trucks for, I think, 6 bucks an hour – that was when your basic after-school minimum wage job paid $1.75, so the pay was most excellent. Liability concerns and union rules, I suspect, were behind those jobs disappearing. We do live in such a complicated world.

    Actually it is a Porsche 944 NOT a 928.

Like economics, cars are a serious business.

I wouldn’t know from schiddelydoo – I drive a Honda and am looking at VW’s and Subarus. Ask me about trimarans, though and I’m there.

It’s a decendent of both the 924 and the 944, namely a 968. Built in small numbers from 1992 thru 1995 it gave way to the Boxster. Largest 4 cylinder engine in modern times, 3.0 liters. The flounder eye headlights give it away.

As you say, it’s too bad Mr. Murtha was never charged criminally, also too bad it’s far from the end of an era…

  10. Go for the Subaru. We just bought our third and they’re pretty much bulletproof.

I bought my daughter Kate one and she loves it and it’s a great car but our insurance company, Amica, considers and charges as if it’s a sports car, even though it’s a station wagon. Ouch.

  12. That’s odd. We insure with Amica too and have never been upcharged for the Subarus. Does she have the Impreza WRX, the turbocharged one?

Off topic, but did you get the email I sent you a few weeks ago asking about the now defunct Greenwich RE firm called Pickering Associates?

  13. christopherfountain

Richard, apparently the particular model I bought, an Imprezia, is considered t be like that turbo little sportster they also sell, but I see no resemblance. As for Bobby Pickering, I did look into that and sorry to say, forgot to send you the results of my inquiry. She is apparently alive, but in ill health and living, perhaps, in Florida.

  14. Good to know you got it. If you found out anything else, I’d love to know. I can also fill you in on what lead up to her moving to lyon Farm, which is one of those amusing and sad at the same time stories.
