Political signs

I must not have been the only one to complain about the political signs lining Binney Park because I noticed today that they have all been moved across the street. Fudrucker tells me that the local parties have a rule against signs posted in schools or parks but zealous out -of-towners sometimes do so anyway.

Havemeyer sale

2 Northridge

This Havemeyer home sold for $650,000 in 2003, $770,000 in 2007 and $750,000 yesterday. That’s actually not a bad result and it sold quickly: came on in May, had a contract in June.

Mortgage forgiveness in the works?

That’s the rumor running around Washington and Wall Street. The theory is that, with the November elections looking bad for the Democrats, Obama will order Fannie Mae to write down its mortgages. Now that’s bound to please voters who are underwater on their homes, but for those voters who are paying their mortgages and have been doing so for years, the idea of paying their neighbor’s mortgage may make them a tad angry. Supposedly, the Obama crowd has calculated that the former group outnumbers the latter. We’ll see.

UPDATE: Treasury denies this rumor.
