I don’t expect anything from our president Obummer, but shouldn’t Mr.Penn be protesting Hugo Chavez installing Iranian missiles, shutting down the Internet and ruling by decree? You’d almost think that, like our own President, Mr. Penn wants to see a communist dictator thrive south of our border. How odd.

Municipal bond bust?
Wall Street’s howling over Meredith Whitney’s prediction that Munis are going to default. A couple of months ago, I mentioned a conversation I’d had with a broker friend who had his clients totally invested in municipal bonds “What happens when they go bust?” I asked. “Oh, I’ll be out of them long before then”, he assured me. My guess is he’s still in them, and my other guess, judging by the reaction of institutional reaction, is that Ms. Whitney is exactly spot-on.

Soldiers honored
Returning vets honored in Cos Cob. A little publicity and I’ll bet they’d have had more than 100 people – I know I’d have been there. What a nice difference from Viet Nam. I believe we’ve learned, as a nation, to distinguish between a war we may disagree with and the soldiers who go into harm’s way.
