The new study by scientists at the Universities of California and Potsdam has found that half of the glaciers in the Karakoram range, in the northwestern Himlaya, are in fact advancing and that global warming is not the deciding factor in whether a glacier survives or melts.
Dr Pachauri, head of the Nobel prize-winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has remained silent on the matter since he was forced to admit his report’s claim that the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035 was an error and had not been sourced from a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It came from a World Wildlife Fund report.
He angered India’s environment minister and the country’s leading glaciologist when he attacked those who questioned his claim as purveyors of “voodoo science”.
Oops! Himalyian glaciers advancing, not melting, study finds

The Global Warming Scare has been throughly discredited, and now only the terminally devout still believe. But the policy goals are still ascendent under the Clean Energy banner. The government will simply require that so much energy must come from uneconomic sources like solar or wind. It will be ethanol writ large, and the rent-seekers like Al Gore will get rich as the rest of us get higher electric bills. Just another drag on an already weak economy.
This summer I’m hoping to get a new roof and gutters put on my house. One of my friends has had water coming in their house because the gutters froze and the water seeped into the shingle s and into the house. Anyone know if having the leaf-blocking gadgets would make this happen more frequently? Right now, my gutters are all clogged with ice, too, but noting seems to be going wrong.
Any advice on what kind of gutters to get, or what to do now that my current gutters are full of ice and supporting icicles?
Peeps, talk to a good roofer. I’m pretty sure the answer lies in having a rubberized membrane extending up uner the first rows of shingles, but there’s probably more to it than that. For instance, is your friend’s attic properly insulated? If not, that can contribute to the problem.
lets just say that global warming is not happening.
so then, we should just plunder the earth’s natural resources ?
I don’t get it .
Cf is correct. Your problem is not with your gutters but rather your shingles. The solution is to peel up the last 2 to 4 ft of shingles to install a membrane to seal out water penetration. what is happening to your roof is that the snow is melting and freezing into ice which is prying apart your shingles.
This issue is why you see a lot more metal roofs in snowy environs like vt and nh. The metal doesn’t succumb to the freeze -thaw cycle.
Plunder or use? I say, use.
Thanks for the roofing advice. if someday my roof is again visible, I’ll have someone come look at it. I just was thinking that the roofer may recommend whatever kind of gutters he has an affiliation or business deal with. At the home shows, you see all the gutter guard-type of gutters, but I wonder what happens to them in the icy, snowy weather. Maybe simplicity is best.
And for you preferring the term “use” over plunder reminds me of how in real estate lingo, a lot full of trees is called “unimproved”
