This sounds like a good idea

Local firm takes care of estate sales. Clearing out possessions, donating what isn’t wanted, arranging cleaning crews and carpenters and monitoring the vacant house. I’ve been though a couple of incidences where a relative has died out of state or even upstate, and a service like this would have eased he burden quite a bit. I don’t know what it costs, but the contact info is at the link.

  1. In the old days, this task fell to the Trust and Estate banker who was like a member of the family. Maybe those guys don’t exist today?

  2. Old School Grump

I agree, this sounds like a really valuable vertical-integration kind of service, one where you’d be happy to pay a hefty fee if you were confident in the provider’s attention to detail and willingness to make sure both the grunt work and the paperwork are done competently.
