Bad enough when Hartford wastes our money but when the locals do …
Greenwich taxpayers will now pay to assist 12 Cos Cob residents sue the water company over a 17-foot-tall cell antenna at the Mianus filter plant. if someone – Peter Berg, zoning commission honcho, for instance -wants to fall prey to delusions of dangerous radio waves flowing past his tinfoil hat and into his ears well, that’s his right, although it does bring into question his suitability to serve on any town board, let alone the zoning commission. But why should we subsidize and encourage his paranoia by taking over his private law suit (“joining”, theoretically, but from here on in, we’ll be doing the heavy lifting here)? balderdash.

And their true colors come shining through
Democrats name president and chief lobbyist for the Motion Pictures Association of America, Chris Dodd, as a “super delegate” to their convention. You may remember that Dodd, under threat of a corruption investigation and facing defeat in his reelection bid, retired from the Senate and vowed “I’ll never become a lobbyist”. Just a month later he signed on with the MPAA at a multi-million-dollar salary and was back on the hill lobbying his former colleagues. he never even had to leave his Washington penthouse, not for a minute.
I blame Bush, or is it Cheney?

Ha!
WELL, TED KENNEDY DID THAT A LOT WHEN HE HELD THE SEAT: Elizabeth Warren is “Getting Hammered.”
By the way, would one of you Photo Shop wizards please indulge me by placing diagonal blue (or red, or green or whatever your choice color) stripes on this crazy bat’s face? I’m thinking two on each side, running from under her baggy eyes out and downward to her jaw bone? Thanks in advance, I know you can do it!

An unfortunate choice of verb
New York Times: Central Banks stand ready to fortify Eurozone.
History has not been kind to fortresses. WWII saw the Germans march around the Maginot Line and in the far east, the British at least still remember “Fortress Singapore”, whose massive armament was supposed to stop the Japs cold. As the Japanese invasion fleet grew nearer the Brits affectionately patted their huge guns, all pointed seaward, and actually complained that the Fortress was so strong that it might scare the Japaneses away and thus deprive the English empire the chance to eliminate them permanently.
Which was all very reassuring until those nasty Asians chose to attack from the rear, behind those guns, and on bicycles yet (!). The island fell in just a couple of weeks.
It’s possible that using Germany’s money to fortify Spain and Portugal will save the Eurozone. It’s also possible that there’s a back door left ajar that will bring the euro house of cards tumbling down. Stay tuned.

Walter Noel is still good for entertainment value

Bang the drum slowly; walt, Jeff tucker and unidentified sucker open trading venture in happier times
Class action settlement reached for some of his defrauded South American victims. (Warning: “article” is just a press release from the plaintiff’s lawyers).
South American drug dealers’ money, probably, and I’m rather surprised that they’d resort to our court system to avenge a wrong when they have “alternative paths” to recovery, but perhaps they’re trying those too. Anyone heard from Walt’s Colombian son-in-law Andres Piedrahita lately?
