Must be the heat

Nothing happened today in the Greenwich real estate world. Nothing. Except, perhaps, 11 Grimes Road in Shorelands dropped $100,000 down to $2.675, below what was paid for it. This is nice house, less than 10 years old, if I recall, and right down the street from the Shorelands beach. I’ve seen Old Greenwich homes inferior, in my opinion, to this one sell for more so I’m puzzled why this home is still around. Full disclosure: I sold this house once, although I have no involvement in this current listing at all. Still, I liked it enough to recommend it then and I still like it and still recommend it.

An association beach and a dock so that you don’t have to deal with Tod’s on the weekend; walk to the train. What’s not to like?

I heard a house came up on Stillman for far less than what it was bought for. Not a good sign for that development.

    • I just heard that from my co-worker Cathy Farricker. In fact, Stillman’s already seen a couple of sales below original purchase price and I think we’re going to see more. Why I’ always going on about “fringe neighborhoods’ and in a bad and falling market, Stilman is fringe.

Shorelands’ speed bumps – H A T E them. The particular species in Shorelands is large enough to beach a car. Speed bumps also give the impression that the neighbors can’t be bothered to look out for each other’s safety.

Could it have something to do with the area being under 4 feet of water when the Hurricane hit late last summer?
