San Francisco couple buys house blocking their Bay view for $4.2 million, tear it down. Bought it out of foreclosure, it was once priced, if not worth, $7 million. This is pretty common here in town but I suppose it strikes people in the hinterland as odd.

The owner of a house on Creamer Hill bought an old colonial on an adjacent 4 acres and tore it down and added on to his original house. The house and grounds are spectacular.
On a slightly lesser scale, some years ago the new owner of a beautiful old estate house on Indian Head bought the house next door, perhaps the first modular home to appear in Riverside (1968? Thereabouts) for $2 million, tore it down and restored the acre of land it sat on to the original estate property. A great improvement.
Did I miss the kitchen? Shucks!

OT, but you have been so on top of the Madoffs. I’ve always said Peter Madoff was too smart to claim he didn’t know what Bernie was doing. Andy and Mark Madoff were stupid enough to make that defense, but as Bernie Ebbers will tell you, the court system doesn’t buy it.
Thanks, RDW – I was going to chide you for not reading all the blog postings because I’d posted on this much earlier today but lo, I found it in the draft folder – I’d held it to find a suitable picture and then was distracted. So yes, the Noels are back on top – wrong photo, but I grabbed what was handy.
Hey Green Demolitions is GREAT stuff! Love that place.
Classy readers here, no doubt.
