I’ve worked in NYC office buildings with broken AC in mid 90º temperatures, and it’s not fun. The NYT should set the example by turning off their own AC instead of running their mouths about how other people should. My favorite part of working in NY and living in Greenwich during the summer: the Grand Central underground platforms for boarding the trains (free sauna).
Remember the old red cars on the Lexington Avenue line – used to take it to Fulton Street – not a lot of fun in the summertime when the heat hit you in the face as you walked down the steps to the platform.
