Who needs a chart when you got this GPS thing aboard?

D’uh

Of course, charts or GPS, you have to know how to use them. Two idiots sink 36′ boat on reef off Cockenoe Island. Who’d have thought that you might need water to float a 36′ power boat?

Just today a friend of mine in the Coast Guard told me just what a criminal lawyer once said when I complained about the stupidity of our clients: “if they weren’t dumb, we’d be out of business.”

That’s a yacht, as the article describes it? From the front view it looks more like a tub o’ sh*t, but it’s more of a sports fisher, what we used to call cabin cruisers, or stink pots, when we were sailing about on our rag hauler back in the day when Trojans and Chris Crafts ruled the waves. I see the “yacht” is named Old School, apparently not old school enough to look at and read charts, though.

This has happened to a number of boats in your own back yard. How many people have hit that big rock by the sugar boat wreck and rushed to beach their boat at the picnic area berfore it slipped under the waves? How many have hit the unmarked rock between Harbour Point and that little island — my favorite spot for doing slalom ski beach starts, remember that, where you stand on one leg in a foot of water and yell go?

  2. The captain must be well-endowed to need such a big, bulky Trojan.

  3. I’d love that set! So pretty!
