Well it will get him out of the Senate, but I wonder how veterans will feel about this?

Obama to name John Kerry Secretary of State.

JOHN KERRY: Several months ago, in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged, and many very highly decorated, veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia. These were not isolated incidents, but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis, with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command. It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit—the emotions in the room, and the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam. They relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do.

They told stories that, at times, they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam, in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

We rationalized destroying villages in order to save them. We saw America lose her sense of morality as she accepted very coolly a My Lai, and refused to give up the image of American soldiers who hand out chocolate bars and chewing gum.

We learned the meaning of free-fire zones—shooting anything that moves—and we watched while America placed a cheapness on the lives of orientals.

The use of the term “orientals” is politically incorrect. “Asians” is considered less derogatory.

  2. So Jane Fonda will serve under him ?
Or will she be Ambassador to Cambodia or Viet Nam ?

Well, I guess we will have some Theresa Heinz Kerry entertainment even though I find her about as credible and intelletually deep as the Kardashians. Sigh.

  4. Dollar Bill

Ron Kovic is a Vietnam vet, and he’d agree with every word Kerry said. But I guess your extensive experience in Nam, CF, trumps his, right?

  5. To be fair now, do we have to replay how Kerry was correct about Iraq and W was wrong?

    • Ah, Bob? Bush is gone – hasn’t been around in 4 years and he’s not being considered for Secretary of State or any other position in this administration. I understand and appreciate your deep, ingrained need to blame Bush, for everything, but it’s sort of what we told the poor bastard doing push-ups on a cold, hard, empty floor the morning after: “she’s gone, Bob, she’s gone”.

I have a great idea – let’s post Kerry in the newly recognized Palastine as our first Ambassador. When the S hits the fan and Al Qeda attacks, we can feel confident that Kerry’s got America’s back.

    NOT……hahahahahaha

  7. It’s easy to imagine John Kerry going from country to country demanding “do you know who I am?”
