Danny Glover recognizes original intent of Second Amendment was to secure right of self defense

“You interpret the constitution with the scholar you have, not the one you wish you had” Donald Rumsfeld, 2004
Of course, he says it was drafted so that whitey could defend himself against uppity slaves and rampaging Indians, but at least he’s moved past the regulated militia bullshit his liberal peers are fixated on. You got it, Danny, it’s all about the right to one’s life and thus, the right of self defense. Power to the people right on!
“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”

Oooh, won’t this be popular?
They’re tiptoeing around it, but the school board’s getting set to bus poor kids into Parkway and North Street schools. That should knock the Cos Cob synagogue kerfuffle off the front pages.
“At the same time, the district is facing the possibility that some schools will be over capacity and some will be under capacity in the coming years. Large student increases are projected for Cos Cob, Glenville, New Lebanon, and North Mianus elementary schools, and significant decreases are projected at Parkway and North Street schools.”

The spring market always does flush out the optimists
5 Jofran is back, with a fresh new price to welcome the equinox, $3.195 million. This place was purchased in 2006 for $2.760, returned to market in 2008 at $2.850, expired in 2009 but came back in 2011 for $2.995. That didn’t work so the price dropped to $2.875 and the listing finally expired in June, 2012. So it’s back now, trying a still higher price. Maybe that will work, maybe the market is stronger now than it was this past June but maybe not; we’ll see.
Good house, great location, but houses on Jofran tend to appeal to Pueblo and other cliff dwellers, and those seeking level ground go elsewhere. Yvon Chouinard, where are you?

Don’t tell our eastern metrosexuals
The current flare-up in the long political battle over gun laws is coming at a moment when American gun culture is more expansive than ever, having gained a foothold among the type of coastal elites that, just a couple decades ago, would have dismissed the very idea of holding a rifle as obscene and offensive. Hunting and recreational shooting, once viewed by the left as backwater pastimes, have won over a liberal coalition of eco-conscious locavores, hipster hunters, and adventure-seeking New York media elites.

Background checks for that mythical 40%
One of the most egregious lies being posited as “settled science” by (anti) gun nuts is that 40% of all gun sales are done without background checks. Most of the recent “solutions” to the Newtown massacre, in fact, from New York to the chief clown in Washington focus on the elimination of this “loophole” and demand that background checks be expanded to all buyers, never mind that neither the Newtown killer, the madman in Colorado or even the shooter who killed two firemen in upstate New York would have been stopped by such a check – it makes us all feel safer, and isn’t that the point?
Well don’t settle into an easy slumber just yet. Joe Biden told the NRA during the five minutes he allotted them to hear their views that the federal government “doesn’t have the time” to prosecute people who lie on those forms; out of millions of applications, the government prosecuted just 22 individuals who lied. Not 22%, 22. Either all but an infinitesimal number of gun owner applicants are strait shooting, honest individuals or there is no attempt going on to deter liars. Either way, the registry is ineffective and, other than providing great soundbites for pandering politicians, is completely useless.
So we’re going to expand its reach – feel better now?
