Another project going nowhere?

12-doublingTwelve Twelve Doubling Road sits on 3.75 acres spun off from an original yard of 7+. Three of those acres were sold for $4.0 million in 2006 and this property, complete with an old mansion, went for $7.575 in 2005. The house has been beautifully restored and was put back on the market this fall for $13.5 million. Despite its location, grounds and the quality of the restoration it found no takers and was taken off the market yesterday. Maybe it will sell in the spring. Spring of what year is to be determined.

Is that the house Alice Cooper lived in during my high school days?

I believe Mr. Cooper owned (but rarely lived in) a similar house on Hill Road, which feeds into Dubling. Rumor has it that it was party/drug central for high school students and various hangers on whle Cooper was away and his manager had run of the place – I wouldn’t know. It burned down sometime during his ownership and the neighbors cheered.

The band was living elsewhere when the fire took place. One member lived nearby on Stanwich and came to take pictures of the blaze.

I think it was the roadies who had the run of the place.

As I recall, the house was nearly across the street from Jada lane.

Wasn’t 12 Doubling the ancestoral home of whatsherface from Charlies Angels?

The only touch it’s lacking are plastic pink flamingoes nestled in the yard
