  1. In light of where this country’s headed, “The People’s Field of the Glorious Martyrs of the Revolution” (or some such rot) is closer to the mark.

  2. If Tarp money is funding the Mets, perhaps Congress will introduce to baseball the same wise policies they have introduced to other fields. How about limits on ballpayer pay? How about “Buy American” balls and bats? How about limiting team private jets? How about regulating unhealthy items on menus?

    Arguably, sports and entertainment industries are about as draining to economy as retailing or fast-food/soft drink/salty snacks industries….taking lots of money from obese people who are prob spending money they don’t really have….w/all kinds of resultant credit defaults and chronic health issues…more taxpayer-funded “bail outs”

    Waste of taxpayer dollars to subsidize these industries…let them live/die by “voting” of consumer, post-tax dollars
