Nazis and left wing trolls

There’s a blogger dictum that says, more or less, that if you let comments run they’re guaranteed to produce a charge of “Nazi ism” within six posts. A fellow commenting below on the Obama bumper sticker broke that rule by coming up with the term after only one commentator had spoken, but he proved the point nonetheless.

He also called me a racist because I disagree with Obama’s prescription for socialism, thus proving other prognosticators right when they predicted, pre-election, that if Obama won any objection to his policies would be labelled racist because, like, you know, man, he’s like Black, so you must be a racist if you don’t go along.”

I find it amusing, in a patronizing sort of way, that people like our radical poster think of themselves as free thinkers, speaking truth to power and thinking where no man dared think before. In fact, were you to assemble a random crop of, college students, professors, Hollywood types and any editor from the New York Times, I could predict with 100% accuracy what their opinions would be on any social or political issue raised. 100% – guaranteed. You can do it too. Give it a try: Gun control? For. Abortion on demand? For. Gay marriage? For. Nuclear power? Against. Iraq war? Against before, ambivalent now. Big Oil? Against. Solar power? For. Power transmission lines? Against. Natural gas pipelines? Against. Speech codes on campus? For. Priuses? For. Organic food? For. Homeopathic “medicines”? For. residential recycling? For.

These people have become the establishment and they are as rigid in their thinking and morality as the establishment they displaced. In fact, given their blindness to what they’ve become, I think they’re worse.

Great article in Investors Business Daily on all the nonsense going on…

CF, kudos for freedom of thought and expression

Live in SF region…where capitalists tend to self-segregate in a few corridors like Pacific Heights or Woodside, to avoid the annoying G550 communists amongst us (they tend to live in Palo Alto), let alone the really smelly (and unattractive) Prius/Tesla drivers or mass transit users (eco/water conservation must entail infrequent showers)

Fondly recall Greenwich as one of last bastions of capitalists…surely under attack with current regime, but suspect the unwashed masses will soon realize why the damn Soviet Union failed…and why China is currently on similar path…command and control communism never worked

Of course, there’s no knee-jerkism on this site!

Corporate welfare IS a form of Socialism. True conservatism calls for a capitalist system dictated by free markets (i.e., no gov’t intervention) which means we allow the big three auto companies, the big banks, AIG, GMAC and GE all to fail. Let these losers, who mismanaged their businesses and over leveraged their balance sheets, file for bankruptcy and restructure under chapter 11! No bank bailouts! No bailouts for homeowners either!

Don’t blame Obama for our problems (e.g,. only in power six weeks). Republicans, on the other hand, had control of the Congress for 12 of the last 14 years and the White House for the last eight and what did we do with this power? We grew the size of gov’t by three folds, entered into two wars, deregulated our financial system, all while cutting taxes, underfunding education and ignoring healthcare which represents the fastest rising component of our federal budget. Then we have the nerve to wonder why the country finds itself in its present state of economic malaise. Are you kidding me?!? Republicans have lost their way. We must return to true conservatism is why are to remain a viable and sensible alternative to the Left.

    Chris –
I have given you this advice before, my friend. Do what I do. Ignore it. And I have been called much worse recently, trust me. Stay busy – go to your 42 room house in Mustique with a staff of 13 (16 actually). Oh – you don’t have one?
Then stop in to your house in Palm Beach. The winter social circuit is a great place to network. You don’t have one of those either? Really? Well, it sucks to be you, then pal. HAAAAAA
    Your buddy,

  6. Peg

I have so-called “friends” who never use the word “Republican” without spelling it with a “k”. The way that they describe anyone who votes for Republican candidates is so horrible, they make true Nazis sound like the kind of folks you’d want for neighbors.

Yet, have some fun with a fairly innocuous banner, and they go bonkers. The proverbial “they know how to dish it out, but not take it” rings so true, they could work for Verizon.

They just can’t stand it that you have them nailed 100%, Chris.

This lousy economy isn’t going away any time soon. The problem is that the blame falls on so many people at once. If it were, say, just one group of political troublemakers, we’d eventually sweep them away like the detritus they are.

But the blame for this nastiness is on deluded and ignorant homeowners, biting off more than they can chew, and the mortgage industry for gorging on them. It’s on politicians, leftie and rightie, for regulating and deregulating what they shouldn’t have, in the name of their backers. And it’s on the finance workers scattered all throughout the hierarchy of that line of work, who embraced insanity for the rich reward of profit…for a little while. You don’t just sweep aside problems of that scope easily. No, we’re going to stew in our juices of economic failure for some time, and that’s that.

I was skeptical that Obama would actually be able to fix anything, and it looks like that’s coming to pass. Unless by some miracle he and his policymakers turn out to be smarter than I imagined, he’ll be gone in 2012, and the next guy will come in and most likely fail to fix much. By then, of course, Obama will bear the full brunt of blame for the recession, as people forget that the seeds of it were sown before the 2008 campaign season was fairly begun, let alone Obama assuming office. As far as his tax and policy changes go, over time they’ll be seen as mere blips on the larger pattern. Some will stick, some will be overturned, and the much longer term march of progress will go on (to what end, good or bad, I cannot say).

Wow, that’s an unusually unhappy rant by my standards…I blame the economy. Sigh.

You forgot one…breastfeeding in public places. Ewww!

What I find amusing is that the troll who threw out the N-word quotes a GOP Congress approval rating from 2006. Interesting that that mid-20s approval is better than double what the Dem-controlled Congress had this past November.

Never let facts get in the way of the narrative, comrads…

While I think the use of “Nazi” in this case was completely uncalled-for, let’s not forget the ugly rhetoric employed by many of the Republicans in the last election cycle (which the Repubs soundly lost). “He’s a Muslim” didn’t stick, “He pals around with terrorists” fell flat — now some people are trying to link our sitting President to the spectre of Communism? I think I heard he might be a space alien, too……

  11. Peg

Hey Red; “He’s a Muslim?” You really shouldn’t diss Hillary & Bill like this.

    Chris —

“People have to watch what they say and watch what they do.”

    Ari Fleisher
    White House spokesman 9/26/01

…where were you to complain when it was coming from the other side?

    • christopherfountain

Slappy, where were you during the past eight years? The libertarian side of the Blogosphere was as quick to denounce crap coming from the moral conservative right wing side as it now attacks our new Attorney General for his playing the race card.

  13. Cobra

As stated by “Red,” above: “…now some people are trying to link our sitting President to the spectre of Communism? I think I heard he might be a space alien, too……”

Red may be onto something. We might want to consider the following information brought to my attention just this morning:

Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947 , a little over 60 years
ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with
five aliens aboard, crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside
Roswell , New Mexico . This is a well known incident that many say has
long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies
    and organizations.

However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948,
nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:

    Albert A. Gore, Jr.
    Hillary Rodham
    John F. Kerry
    William J. Clinton
    Howard Dean
    Nancy Pelosi
    Dianne Feinstein
    Charles E. Schumer
    Barbara Boxer

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?

I certainly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for

It did for me. No wonder they support bills to help illegal aliens!

    Now You Know.”

It is the free spending liberals who most resemble past regimes who have employed the Thought Police. If you don’t accept their “factual” mandates on global warming and social engineering then you are a trouble maker. They have already started the brain washing in schools, so for those of us who are older and buck their bullsh** there will be re-education centers.

Chris, you are not a true conservative. Please stop putting yourself out there as someone dedicated to the cause. You’re a farce. A joke.

    Dear Mr. Fountain,
As one of your greatest fans, I am requesting that you remove the offensive comment made by Pink Slipper. If you do not wish for your forum to become a debate on the value of Breastfeeding vs. the dangers of giving babies modified cow’s milk formula, then don’t post such a ridiculous comment in the first place.
Your daughter and your son are reading this blog and will be influenced by such a dangerous comment.
It has been proven that feeding infants cow’s milk formula instead of breastmilk is detrimental to the development of the baby, its’ brain growth and its immune function.
In complete contrast to the point you were making, research has demonstrated that educated individuals are more likely to breastfeed, not particularly Democrats.

    • christopherfountain

I didn’t post a series of comments precisely because I had no interest in hosting a debate on breast feeding. I’m not sure what comment slipped by or caught your attention but if it’s offensive, out it goes.
