For Sale

squattin-bull2Thanks to reader Chimney, here’s a picture of Bernie’s Shelter Island 38 Runabout, taken in happier times.  Myself, I like the looks of the green one I posted yesterday, better.

The boat reminded me of this one that Andres likes to tell:
A real estate salesman had just closed his first deal, only to discover that the piece of land he had sold was completely under water.

“That customer’s going to come back here pretty mad,” he said to his boss. “Should I give him his money back?”

“Money back?” roared the boss. “What kind of salesman are you? Get out there and sell him a houseboat.”

Andres has a million of em, I tell ya. For $45 mill a year he better!!!
    Back to Basil’s!!!

Yeah well, Walt, your previous mention of Buck F….,g Dent reminded me that in 1978, my first year of law school, the friggin’ Sox had blown an 11 game lead and had to play that game against ol Bucky and the boys. The students and profs gathered around a radio , 1/2 cheering for the Sox, the other 1/2 Yankee fans. The guy who became and has remained my best friend was inexplicably a Yankee fan and he rubbed my nose in that game from 1978 until 2004 when I happened to be visiting at the end of season and we turned on the Yankee Red Sox game – two outs, 9th inning, Yankees ahead when ….
So I had to wait 26 years – it was all worth it.
      Off to look at boats!

Shelter Islands are built by a partnership with Billy Joel. Gorgeous boats, but a bit too narrow in the beam for open ocean. Little overpriced though. I would take a Hinckley T40 or a Legacy 40. Wonder if Joel had any dough invested with Bernie, Lord knows enough other people have stolen from him.
