Bud Dealy is dead

71, Parkinson’s Disease. Vain to the literal end, Bud seems to have written his own obituary – that’s our Bud. We started as friends but I angered him once and that was that. I was sad to see him afflicted by Parkinson’s and physically deteriorating over the years, and he leaves a wonderful wife, Ellen, and three young boys. Wherever he’s off to, he’ll have an opinion on how it’s run and I’m sure he’ll share that with the man in charge. I was going to invent a quote from Bernie Yudain, Bud’s particular target for years and for inexplicable reasons, but Bernie has outlasted the guy and that’s comment enough.

Bud’s death was reported several days ago (Aug 10), and when there was no mention of it here, I strongly suspected that there must be a story behind that omission.

Now you have confirmed it, CF:

“Vain to the literal end, Bud seems to have written his own obituary – that’s our Bud. We started as friends but I angered him once and that was that.”

I don’t expect that you’ll elaborate upon this, but I still wonder why it took you so long to make any reference to or comment upon Bud’s death, when you are usually so on top of noteworthy local events.

I don’t usually do much with Greenwich Time except skim the front of the internet version to see if there’s anything interesting. So I didn’t notice Bud’s obit until this evening. Nothing more than that.

A date Walter will always remember. He is going back to Boston. Not for a Harvard reunion. He is going to talk to a Judge.

I always admired Bud for his columns deriding the local powers that be in the Greenwich Post. For someone moving into town, it gave a fresh perspective on how things were run and where the true power lay in Greenwich town.

As he went along though, he got fewer facts right and became increasingly adamant that was incapable of being wrong. I suspect that was a result of Parkinson’s, so when I learned of his illness I laid off.

    Dude –
Bernie Yudain is about as funny as my dirty pampers. I read him but I never get him. You are George Carlin compared to him.
And you have no sense of humor, and can’t write. Which is why you sell dirt. Because you know how to drive. The only skill set required to be a “professional real estate agent”. GAR!!!!!!
You do know how to drive, right Dude?
    WORM!!!
