Skool Daze

So some people are poking fun at the “well-oiled machine” Obamaites are so proud of, pointing out that schools in New York, Boston and LA will be closed the day of his ObamaEdUKation speech. It’s possible that this slip-up on school schedules reflects disarray at the White House but really, why would Obama care about missing those three areas? Kids there are already being indoctrinated, every day, by the most liberal “educators” in the nation. The boys from Washington are going after the heartland, not already conquered seaboard cities.

You know, I could back Mr. O choosing to address the millions of inner city, poor kids who may be culturally challenged and hopefully inspire them to seize hold of their educational opps. But only If he sticks to education …or anything that the left wouldn’t mind Mr. Bush saying to the kids…right?

Christina Erland Culver, former deputy assistant secretary for education, said presidents have traditionally addressed classrooms on the first day of school, but the problem with the event was the accompanying materials from the Department of Education.

“That’s where they kind of got into a slippery spot. Federal statute denies any authority to the Department of Education to provide any kind of curriculum or anything that can be passed down to the state, and that’s part of the statute forming the Department of Education. So they kinda got themselves into this mess because they didn’t really understand some of the key legal roles or the dos and don’ts at the federal Department of Ed,” she said.

My opinion: They tried to pull a fast one, got busted, and their meaningless contrition is the “revision” of the suggested materials.

Anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like next Tuesday? Could be a great day for outdoor education.
