Now it can be told

Russell Shorto, author of the wonderful “Island at the Center of the World” a history of the Dutch in New Amsterdam, is speaking at the Cole Auditorium tomorrow night at 7:30 PM [corrected from 8 – doors open at 7] . Admission is free but you must call the Hysterical Society at (203) 869-6899 for reservations. Now that I have reserved two seats, I’m passing on the word.

Walt – I reserved two tickets – perhaps you’d like to join me and learn about your betters. Not everyone who came to this country ended up as pig farmers in Tennessee.

(Saving Walt the trouble) Yeah, some of them ended up as real estate agents.

It’s about time the real truth of this New Netherlands colony emerge and drop the BS about how Greenwich is the gateway to New England. The New Netherlands seat was in Manhattan and it’s no wonder all the commuter rails today run to NYC. This is a colony of commerce from Hartford/New Haven to the Delaware Bay…and not of subservience to Kings and Queens. The Revolutionary period settled that matter. Right or wrong…greed, self interest, and avarice rule this colony…not omnipotent rulers. And remember, we’re called CT Yankees….not CT Red Sox. The Dutch period philosophically shaped this country and it’s time we face the facts.

Hey Chris: Thanks for publicizing the Russell Shorto event. Can you please change to the correct time?

Doors open at 7:00, program starts at 7:30, not 8:00.

    Don’t be late! Thanks!

    Dude –
That has to be a made up name. Can I go as Dexter Tallboy?
    Your Pal,

Good Points, “Just the facts” – Just don’t forget the Calvinist Presbyterians either. We have our representational democracy thanks to their model.
