Here’s something called the “Weiss Report” that claims to evaluate the financial strength of banks. It gives Patriot Bank and First Bank of Greenwich ratings of E – , which I assume is failing (the list is alphabetical by state, so scroll down). Connecticut Community Bank, which I believe encompasses my own bank, Greenwich Bank & Trust, gets a gentleman’s “D”. I don’t know Weiss’s methodology, but this probably isn’t good news for shareholders.
