To be fair, Chris, to call a guy an “extremist” and ask him not to present his “distorted view of Islam” is not to denounce him.

One of the fundamental problems with Islam is the concept of jihad. Unless and until the religion is reformed to exclude violent jihad, Islam will always be a threat to Western values. Sharia Law is the other major factor that causes Islam to be such a retrograde force is cultural affairs.

Sounds like denouncing to me. What did you want them to do? And you might want to put the Bible under the same magnifying lens as you do the Koran.

Sounds like taqiyya to me, another lovely concept unique to the Religion of Peace.

  4. OT: good article in today’s WSJ about real estate (too bad you don’t have a real estate blog – now there would be a clever idea!) 🙂

    Anonymous,

You should be happier. Your faith is winning. What your religous forebears couldn’t do with violence at Poitiers your contempories are doing with peaceful immigration and a high birth rate. Even our timid Toaist host doesn’t include Gates of Vienna on his blogroll, perhaps in response to your demand. At the rate things are going one day one of your descendants might have a real estate business in Greenwich. Perhaps it will be called Century 7.

I agree with Inagua, this story may be a taqiyya (outwitting in order to conceal the truth). In 2006/2007 why didn’t Latif notify the authorities of his concerns? The authorities, I hope, will continue investigating the mosque.

“And you might want to put the Bible under the same magnifying lens as you do the Koran.”

As soon as Christians start strapping on the bomb vests and having literal & violent intrepretations of the more dubious parts of the Bible be anything but the ravings a microscopic subset of Christians … I’ll start caring.

If Saudi Arabia replaced our leaders with despots who then subjected us to generations of abject poverty, I think a whole gaggle of christians would be rushing to bring about the end of days on the Arabian peninsula as prophesized in the book of Revelation.

Isn’t it amazing how northern Ireland, after decades of strife and violence, ceases to be a hot zone when economic conditions improve markedly. The Koran is the excuse, not the reason for the violence.
