Lol! MERS is a fraud. The brainchild of Angelo Mozillo. An opaque corporate wall purposely set up to sheild and insulate REITs and other note/mortgage holders from potential liability in situations involving high risk, predatory, subprime loans. MERS subverts the public policy of maintaining a transparent public title history of real property. It is designed to cloak members transactions and to subvert truth in lending laws.
