Let no tragedy remain without getting your political licks in. All the liberals are salivating, wishing the assassin was a “tea bagger”. How ghastly, no wonder you morons are getting voted out.

The nutcake shooter was most definitely inspired by violent Tea Party rhetoric, what with its emphasis on “2nd amendment remedies” (Sharon Angle), its vicious scapegoating of immigrants, and crazed glorification of guns and violence. It has got to stop. Of course, when white people indulge in this type of criminality, putting American politicians into their cross hairs, no one stops to say this is terrorism pure and simple. They just assume Loughner is unstable and leave it at that. Imagine for a second if a Muslim had put Ms. Giffords in his cross hairs. All you TP-loving commenters on this site would be saying “See, Islam is behind this.” Loughner had been spouting TP rhetoric for some time (garbage about the gold standard, immigrants). What you reap you shall sow. The American far right is the most dangerous threat to liberty in this country and its toxic presence must be expunged pure and simple.

    From the inimitable Driftglass…

“The sad truth is that Hate is the Right’s Ring of Power. They’re never going to give it up, because they know the minute they do — the minute they’re no longer allowed to pretend that Liberals are evil, freedom-hating fifth-columnist monsters who are dragging America into a Marxist abyss on the secret orders of our Kenyan Usurper Overlord — their whole ideology would implode…

…they would never win another election…

…and tens of thousands of powerful, well-remunerated insiders from Rush Limbaugh to David Gregory who depend on that hate for their daily bread would suddenly have to go out and find honest work.”

Barack Obama: “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

    Scott Johnson

Money ‘graphs: “The party of ELF, ACORN, ECO-TERRORISTS, THE BLACK PANTHERS, THE NEW BLACK PANTHERS, THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND, THE WINTER SOLDIERS, MUMIA ABU-JAMAL and his supporters, CAIR, LAMONT HILL, VAN JONES, SAUL ALINSKY, CODE PINK , RASHID KHALIDI , REV WRIGHT, BERNARDINE DOHRN the cop killing wife of Obama confidant, proud domestic terrorist, cop killer accomplice BILL AYERS whose hero SIRHAN SIRHAN assassinated Robert Kennedy, must never get away with trying to blame a senseless isolated act of violence against an entire political group or advocates for a political group such as the Tea Party, Glenn Beck and/or Rush Limbaugh…

“With more of an eagerness to make false political points to stir up anger against the Tea Party rather than reporting the story and showing respect for this tragedy, soldiers such as Paul Krugman of the NY TIMES, are already out there demanding people like Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and the Tea Party be held to account. This can not and will not go unchallenged this time….”

Dollarbill: just Os I have this straight, you are blaming Palin and the Tea Party for Loughner’s shooting spree?

So I guess we should ignore evidence found at the shooter’s residence that suggests his first interactions with Giffords go back to 2007 or earlier?! That he might have started stalking her back then reconciles with your thesis how?

My problem with you, the local sutured in AZ, Krugman, and all the other frustrated Lefties is that you will conflate any act of violence into an act inspired by the Right. That Loughhner was a pot smoking loser whose sociopathy started to show itself in high school is ignored by your worldview. That his reading of Mein Komf (sp?) and communist tomes as well as his viewing of videos of American flags being burned might not fit the profile of a Tea Party sympathizer seems to be lost upon you.

Sometimes the easiest explanations are the right ones and in this case, The guy was deranged, pure and simple.

I feel sorry for you and your type because you just don’t realize just how blind your political hatred has made you.

Just to reinforce the point above:

So dollar, how did you feel about the Bush=Hitler iconography in the 2000s? Or the book and movie which were effectively Bush snuff porn? Were you upset then about the inflammatory nature of that “rhetoric”? Or, did you not see the harm in it because it fit your narrative?

More recently, I wonder how incensed you were when Palin was burned in effigy?

And then there’s this from respected NY Times jouranlist Halperin where he imagines that a major attack might just bolster Obama’s standing:

Those who purport to care about the tenor of political discourse don’t help civil debate when they seize on any pretext to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

btw, the shooter appears to be a leftist loon. Is the Daily Kos responsible for its hateful invective?

Official: DHS has not determined any possible ties between Arizona shooter and right wing group

    By Greg Sargent
For the last 24 hours, the Web has been alive with speculation that the Arizona shooter has some sort of ties to a right-wing group called American Renaissance. The primary source for this claim is a Fox News report from yesterday saying that law enforcement had made this determination based on information provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

But a DHS official tells me that the department has not established any such possibility, undercutting what appears to be the primary basis for this claim.

All weekend long politicians were falling over themselves to make sure this nutjob wasnt labeled a liberal or a conservative, no one wants him identified as “one of them.” From what I’ve read, he doesnt seem to fit into either party, he was paranoid and anti-government/establishment – I would guess people like that wouldnt bother to vote or support any politician…

That said, Sarah Palin must really be regretting her “we have you in our crosshairs” sign now… what an irresponsible moron. She obviously was in no way at fault for this, but it was amusing to see her camp scrambling to do damage control.

Pima County Sheriff Dupnik has been making a fool of himself charging on no evidence that heated rhetoric was behind the madman’s shooting rampage in Tucson.

But Cholla, a blogger with an impressive background in the Navy and journalism, reports that sources inside the Department who have seen original police reports have told him that Dupnik’s own office dropped the ball on Loughner.

    He says:

“Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability….

My, but you have a calm, reflective way of expressing yourself. By the way… Can you supply us please with a quote from a Tea Party activist that is “violent”? I’d settle for something that merely glorified violence.

You can quote me, if you’d like: “Hoplophobia is symptomatic of emotional immaturity.” Actually, I’m quoting Freud, and no, it doesn’t actually “glorify” weapons possession, though perhaps it’s close enough?
