Unemployment benefits run out

But so what? The self-employed never had these benefits at all.  That’s been my situation since 1988 (actually, except for the period 1981 – 1987, I’ve always been self-employed). It’s a tough world, as I well know.

    Dude –
If you want to fancy yourself a writer or a reporter, you have to make sure you use the correct words to describe the situation, and do it factually.
So please change “self-employed” to “unemployed”.
    Sheesh. I sound like HIRAM!!

    From the linked article:
“Unemployment insurance extends the typical amount of time that people will spend off the job and not looking for work,” said Chris Edwards, an economist at the Cato Institute, a libertarian organization.

I’ve personally seen this in action and it angers me.

I’ve been self employed since 1973. I wouldn’t have it any other way, regardless of benefits. My biggest complaint is government over-regulation and interference in private enterprise.
