Reward your friends, punish your enemies

This one's for you, Chuck!

Obummer cuts funding for Republican Kansas’s bio-security project, restores it for Democrat Chuck Schumer’s Plum Island, New York facility. 300 jobs @$75,000 and up, gone. I’m not a huge fan of our entire Homeland Security Agency and in fact I’d like to see it abolished but this seems pretty typical of security as practiced by Obummer.

Of course, Plato warned against exactly this behavior in a democracy; no one listened then and they aren’t listening now.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas officials were stunned and upset Monday to learn that President Barack Obama recommended no additional funding for construction of a new biosecurity lab, jeopardizing a high-visibility project that the state had seen as a powerful engine of economic growth.

The spending plan from Obama also said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will reassess the viability of the National Bio- and Agro-defense Facility planned for Manhattan, near Kansas State University. The project would cost an estimated $650 million and would replace an aging facility at Plum Island, N.Y.

The Plum Island labs are where AIDS and Lyme Disease were created.

Aids: maybe a stretch, but ever ride the Plum Island/Lyme Ct ferry? Escaped lab mice did. And come to think of it, Aids and Lyme disease, both blood borne auto immune viruses, started to show up in the human population at about the same time. Did Aids originate on Plum Island? Who knows. Lyme disease? I’ve read alot of people who think so.

  3. So we created a bio warfare agent that takes years to make people walk funny because their joints hurt. Great. It must have been a union lab.

There are a lot of people who believe in Scientology too.

Recommended book for people living in th area:
Lab 257: The Disturbing Story of the Government’s Secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory
Exposure to African swine fever, Rift Valley fever, foot-and-mouth disease, West Nile virus, and Lyme’s covered. No mention of AIDS.

Richard – you’ve got a former German WWII scientiist at the lab in the 50’s doing research on ticks as vectors for infection. The 70’s come around and the lab is falling into disrepair with a few documented outbreaks of different diseases on Long Island where many of the scientists lived. It’s not too hard to make a connection between a crumbling bio lab without sufficient funding to ensure containment and a previously unknown disease that takes root 12 miles away in Lyme CT. You don’t have to believe in alien abduction to accept government mismanagement.

  6. OG Reader – There are historical references to the disease in Europe and New Endland going back to the 1800’s.

and they found lyme bacterial DNA in a 5000 year old mummy:

“The 2010 autopsy of Ötzi the Iceman, a 5,300 year old mummy, revealed the presence of the DNA sequence of Borrelia burgdorferi making him the earliest known human with Lyme disease.[162]”

Don’t believe every conspiracy theory you bump into on the internet.

Richard, just because something has been around for a long time doesn’t mean it can’t be weaponized. But weaponized Lyme disease would be about as believable and purposeful as weaponized gout, or would that be weaponized cream sauce, which could lead to almost certain death within seventy to eighty years after consumption. Let’s smoke some cigarettes while we ponder that thought.

  8. AJ, that was my point too – what a stupid “weapon” Lyme would be. My point in citing the history is that a big part of the con job in this particular conspiracy theory is calling Lyme a “previously unknown disease”.

Someone has traced the genetic history of the bacterium several thousand years back to Europe:
