Probably not this time, but soon

Massive solar storm heading our way, will reach earth tonight. When the big one hits it will disable our electrical grid, knock out the GPS system and bring down the Internet. It’s been suggested many times that recovery money be spent beefing up our infrastructure to protect against this disaster but most of those jobs would be performed by men, a bad thing, and Obummer needs to spend money of green projects to demonstrate to his base that he “cares”. Too bad.

Yup and transformers do not go out of style, so we could have stocks of them underground ready to roll out and replace the burnt out ones, as these things can have lead times in years.

Power lines with disconnects so part of the network can bring themselves up.

Imagine that, hardened infrastructure with spares.

oh oh oh…. how about a PLAN?

    Dude –
So let’s test this science out, OK? At around midnight tonight, climb up on your roof. Make sure you have your tin foil hat on, or it won’t work. And take your other clothes off first so they don’t get dirty. Then pop a light bulb in your mouth, glass side out, and let’s see if we can get it to light up. It may take a few hours, so be patient.
Report back tomorrow. And don’t doze off up there. You load.
    Your Pal,
