Just shut the whole thing down

U Conn Law School Dean fired after school’s US World Report rankings decline. 20 % of its graduates can’t find jobs, debt is crushing even those who do find work and who needs more lawyers anyway? I got a great deal in 1978-81 when there was no tuition but those were different times. Today, if you’re not coming out at at least the top half of your class from one of the top ten schools, you’ve probably just wasted three years and a hell of a lot of money. Law schools have become cash cows for universities and nothing else, existing solely to keep otherwise-unemployable academics well-off and naive dreamers impoverished. We’d be better off without them.

I don’t know if you’ve come across this blog by a law prof discussing the “law school scam” but it is well worth a read.

Poindexter, here is your writing prompt for today.
There are 218 or so lawyers in the Congress. It is dysfunctional.
    Relate.

CF, obviously you lack vision, a handicap of your old-school, rational thinking, no doubt. Law schools are incubators for future activists who will attempt to sue all of us into submission for not adopting their collectivist ideology. To resist is futile. Are you one with the hive — free cell phone included — or against it? Yes we can, and so can you. One world, a new order — Belgium is calling; you must answer the call.

Really. Would someone just fire Glenn Reynolds already.

It’s not just law schools. Kids coming out of college with teaching degrees and have very slim chances of getting a job. The colleges have to keep sucking in students and keeping their spirits up as they pay tuition bills each term or their own jobs will be done. It’s very bleak.

Think of the benefits for “community activists” of having a large portion of the “reserve army of the unemployed” be trained as lawyers!

Remember that the Arab Spring revolutions were ignited by unemployed university graduates – the sense of hopelessness that accompanies having an education that fits one for professional/managerial careers (at least in one’s own mind) yet being almost utterly without prospect of that kind of employment.

You would almost think the Obama administration were deliberately trying to increase the number of “educated”-but-unemployed/undermployed youth in order to foment civil unrest….

segment on fox this morning about how kids coming out of voc tech schools are getting job offers up the wazoo; many two and three viable offers. sounds good to me.

    • GHS shut down it’s automechanic shop years ago, Connecticut shut Wrigh Tech as well. All our kids must go to college and study women’s liberation – they don’t need jobs, they need empathy.
