But dispare springs eternal as the crops fail.

“In what has been called the single largest wave of recorded suicides in human history, Indian farmers are now killing themselves in record numbers. It has been extensively reported, even in mainstream news, but nothing has been done about the issue. The cause? Monsanto’s cost-inflated and ineffective seeds have been driving farmers to suicide, and is considered to be one of the largest — if not the largest — cause of the quarter of a million farmer suicides over the past 16 years.

According to the most recent figures (provided by the New York University School of Law), 17,638 Indian farmers committed suicide in 2009 — about one death every 30 minutes…”

    • Genetically modified seeds also spurred India’s “Green Revolution” which has spared literally millions of Indians from starvation over the past four decades. I suggest that India’s farmers’ woes are really about the completely corrupt government and its socialist economy.

But fear not, back in the good ol’ FDA protected USA, expect a bountiful harvest, a cornucopia of poison food.

“Millions of Pounds of Toxic Poison to Flood US Farmland…The danger is growing because Dow AgroScience has received preliminary USDA approval for its 2,4-D herbicide resistant GMO corn. This means that dioxin contaminated 2,4-D herbicide will drench US farm land and pollute water supplies if the crops are widely planted…”

You have been duped Orwellian Doublespeak. The Green Revolution brought on by the “Genetically modified high-yielding wheat was first introduced to India in 1963” according to Wikipedia. But the genetically modified wheat that they refer to is not a GMO at all but a hybrid (cross breading) created by the use of mendelian genetics which has been in existence and practiced since the mid 1800s — remember Mendel and his peas.

True GMOs did not appear until the mid 1990s and are created by manipulating DNA in a way that could damage reproductivity, internal organs, the environment, and could even create prions, leading to something similar to mad cow disease. Both mad cow and e-coli were created by Big Agra and their unnatural methods.

Any link from GM food to human obesity or to the decline of the honey bee?

When is the GSA convention going to be held there?

anon @ 11:08 I’m no expert and I haven’t bookmarked everything I’ve read, so just Google it: I’m sure you’ll find that there’s been tons of stuff coming out for quite a while now. The FDA just threw out over one million signatures on a petition demanding labelling GMOs claiming that since all the signatures were on one piece of paper it counts as only signature.

“FDA Deletes 1 Million Signatures for GMO Labeling Campaign”

@ anonymous 11:08, the systemic pesticides most effective for the GMO foods seem to be the culprit in the colony collapse disorder of honeybees.

there is a documentary on colony collapse disorder. it’s available through netflix.

Let me get this straight, it’s wrong for the GSA to spend Fed (taxpayer) monies for a convention in Las Vegas but it’s okay to spend Fed (taxpayer) monies/loans/grants for a solar convention in Disneyland? Oh my.
