At least France has a monopoly to protect

France shut down shale oil fracking at the demand of its state-owned nuclear power industry and Russia. So, while they bowed to their masters from Moscow, they’ll still have some source of energy that’s not dependent on the good will of the enemy to the east. We’re not so lucky here. Our anti-fracking forces remind me very much of communists here in 1940-41 who urged screamed for neutrality while the Soviet-Nazi pact was in place and switched overnight to “Second Front Now” when the Germans invaded Russia and the orders were sent out from Moscow. Should Putin somehow decide it’s in his interest to have a plentiful, cheap supply of natural gas in the US, look for Robert Kennedy to become a fracking advocate. Until then, bundle up.
