Here’s a surprise: GHS Band going to Cuba and Greenwich Time doesn’t notice that there might be something objectionable about that

Raul Castro prepares prisoner for the ultimate reeducation

Nothing to see here, move along, move along. If you’re the type to see no moral distinction between communism and freedom, if you think that “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” is a laudable sentiment rather than evil incarnate, then you’re probably an educator or a member of the press, so a petty little matter like lending support to a bloody dictatorship will never appear on your radar.

Cultural exchange, Cuban style

Bob Tate might be a candidate for a volunteer chaperone on the trip: he has time on his hands and lots of experience with children.

While the Cuba trip seems to raise no questions at the Greenwich Time, Bob Horton’s latest column indicates he is emotionally devastated that the Town dare to pause and reflect a bit before spending many millions on the Byram pool. Gee, after spending $20 million on the police building, $20 million on the fire house, $28 million on our money-losing nursing home Nathaniel Witherell, $28 million and climbing on the Greenwich High Auditorium, $10 million on annual paving and such, $10 million on annual routine schools maintenance capital, $16 million on the contribution to the town pension fund (also climbing), soon reaching our debt limit of $210 million, every penny of which the taxpayer will repay……..

Gosh, isn’t it just outrageous that the Town scrutinize the Byram pool?

With these liberals, it seems to be all spending, all the time. Does anyone sympathize with that poor schlub the taxpayer?

    Chris-
My New Revised Communist Manifesto has it translated as:

From each according to his “fair share”; to each according to his need.

“Many Americans have kind of a wrong impression of what Cuba as a country is,” Yoon said. “What they don’t realize is that Cuba is this amazing culture because of their isolation.

I think this statement speaks VOLUMES unto itself. Again, no mention of WHY Cuba is this “isolated” from the entire planet (excuse me, except from their pals in Russia)….astonishing.

Well, it looks like the parents are gleefully, tickeled pink with the choice and are excited to learn about the rich culture of Cuba….human rights and dignity are for others to teach, not the music dept.

Let’s see, we trade a gazillion dollars with the largest communist country on the planet, but visiting a country that is right next door, defenceless and stupidly tiny is a problem. Go figure.

    Tell it db!

Medicare is a perfect example of “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” It’s in effect a redistributive program, supported by a payroll tax (and other revenue) in which the amount you pay in depends on your income, but it supplies a benefit that depends only on your medical costs. Evil incarnate!

    Dude –
I actually don’t have a problem with the pecker headed, little clarinet blowing, snot nosed frigging twits going to Cuba. Along with their Commie teachers. Who cares? Let them stay there as long as they want, as far as I am concerned.

Teach them about La Revolucion. Let the little snowflakes hang out with Johnny Ola, so they can write about a Donkey Show on their college admission forms. GODFATHER DUDE!!

Let them come back, and tell their Nanny she is oppressed by her Capitalist pig parents, and she should steal all the silverware and jewelry, and go back to Romania, or Kazakhstan, or New Jersey, or whatever third world country she came here from illegally.

And Cuban music? It totally sucks. Go to Jamaica Mon!! Bob Marley and weed!! Can’t top that. Am I right? The only reason they are going to Cuba is the whores are $5.00 a night, so the teachers can have a blast.
    TOOT TOOT!! Play my flute!!
    Your Pal,
    Walt

Hey at least the people being re-educated and exchanged had it quick, is the usual socialist MO to take their own sweet time with starvation and torture and generally beating down people’s souls…
