It’s early, but this may already be the dumbest question of the day

Polling Place

Strip club brings pole dancers to downtown Hartford and Courant editor wonders why. Yes, the questioner is a woman, but if she has to ask, she’ll never know.

Calling on public officials to denounce, or asking whether such indecent behavior should be legal, is too easy. For Hartford residents, and all people of Connecticut, we should instead ask what leads a business to think parading pole-dancing women down Main Street in Hartford, is overall, a good idea. Really. What were they thinking?

  1. We women can’t seem to all be on the same page. We want equality in the work force, want to be free to do whatever with our bodies, and when two do just that, a woman is doing the criticizing the choice of the pole dancers?????? Crazy!! What these dancers are doing should not be condemned. Heavens, they are probably earning a good wage and awesome tips so what’s wrong with that? I say go for it.

PS: o/t: GG: you got me hooked on Imus in the Morning. Thanks so much for the great idea.

They’re probably the best looking sights Hartford has to offer, these days.

not just pole ‘dancers’ in hartford. have you not been watching the talking heads on tv? lots of women, maybe more than half. and a good percentage of them exhibit cleavage. [esp.local news.] are the men showing half their skin below the neck? no. why the women? cuz they want to use sex when it helps their careers. opportunists.

Definitely a civic improvement to downtown Hartford!

We need dancers like those on Greenwich Ave…we have plenty of room right by the GPD.

They can make more money here.

  6. Not in Greenwich

Hey remember the Greenwich mother who condemned the Victoria Secret window lingerie? She didn’t want her kids to see it. What will happen to the kids who see the pole dancers?

    Dude –
Not only is the author a woman, but worse, she is a lawyer!! The fillys were wearing bikinis, so what is the big deal? Kids will be horrified seeing that? She should be more worried about crime and taxes. Government should leave the strip bars out of it, and fix some of the real issues. Like Hartford being an overall shit hole. This hause frau has way too much time on her hands.

Now, I believe the name of the establishment is “Kahoots”. THAT I have a problem with. Why not “Jiggles”?

Anyhows, it looks like an upscale club, with proper attire required. You can see some of the lovely ballerinas here:

Why are they always named Raven, or Jayda, or Jersey? I have never met a stripper named Sue or Mary. I never understood that, do you?

    • All these places describe themselves as “gentleman’s clubs”. I blame an upright code of ethics and behavior instilled in me by my father and grandmother, but I believe the terms “gentleman” and “strip club” are mutually exclusive. I’m sure that’s just me, and a few sessions with a properly trained, modern psychiatrist could free me from such outdated morality but, for now, I don’t go there.

EOS – glad you like Imus. He’s pretty great inspite of his shrill wife who occassionally makes appearances. (Not a fan of Deirdre, although she did save his life.)
Someday, we’ll have to figure out a way to have lunch.

Where are they supposed to stick the dollars? Tape them to the outside of the truck?
