More tax for thee, but not for me

Gerard attends Fidel’s 80th birthday party

Gerard Depardeu, net worth $120,000,000, has moved to Belgium to escape France’s new 75% tax rate. Mr. Depardeu is a pal of Fidel Castro, visiting Cuba to go hunting with the dictator and his equally bloodthirsty brother Raul: “They’re just normal people”, he reports.

Depardeu did not say, “You know, not many people knew it, but the Führer was a terrific dancer” – Mel Brooks said that.

No word whether Castro’s other Hollywood admirer Sean Penn will be moving in next to Gerard, but if Penn has a chateau in France, count on it.

“I find capitalism repugnant. It is filthy, it is gross, it is alienating… because it causes war, hypocrisy and competition.”

What I love is how the French government told everyone 6 months in advance what they were going to do giving everyone with that kind of dough PLENTY of time to shift most of their assets and what not to minimize the tax burden.

Major prediction: A couple of of months from now there will be SHOCKED , SHOCKED! reporters & politicians writing about how not only did the tax bring much less money than expected, but that Quelle Horreur! total tax revenues have gone down.

That will open the door to define “rich” down into the middle class and raise them because, A. That’s where the (remaining) money is. B. The middle class doesn’t have resources/ability to move their money into places where the government can’t get at it.

The funniest thing about all this? The French “Left” is overwhelming run by wealthy people.
