Obama will ban guns by executive order – could this make even a liberal queasy?

I shall save this precious child!

I shall save this precious child!

Undeterred by the prospect of our country’s legislature not giving him what he wants, Obama is planning to pull a Chavez and legislate by executive fiat.

“The president is going to act,” said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. “There are executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

Biden said that this is a moral issue and that “it’s critically important that we act.”

Biden talked also about taking responsible action. “As the president said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking.

This last bit is the excuse used for all sorts of terrible laws and it simply isn’t true. If that life of one child were really the beginning and end of all inquiry, we’d ban cars or, more prosaically, confiscate all violent video games. Our Second Amendment rights are at least as worthy of the same protection as the First.

That guy really is brainless. “If it saves one life” – the most lazy argument in politics.

    • Mark B.

How often it is that yet another liberty is curtailed behind the plea, “But if sacrificing this small freedom will save even one life, will it not be worth it?” What convoluted reasoning is this that inspires such a cry? How is such obscurity a justification for liberty’s further decline? The spirits of those who gave their very lives to preserve our liberty are repulsed each time we surrender more of it for some pittance of perceived security.
Indeed, it may be God’s dearest prank that He instilled in us in equal measure the hunger for liberty and a yearning for safety.

It’s as though Barry actively wants civil war.

I had 2 close family members (white) held up by gunpoint by a ghetto thug (black) in a leafy northeast suburb very recently. It was a sudden, very random violent act. Luckily, it ended without loss of life.

Explain to me if you would, liberal left, Journal-News, Gawker, Biden, Obama, Pelosi, etc., how taking guns away from law abiding citizens will prevent this kind of activity from taking place?

    • The only way to end all armed crime would be the complete confiscation of the 300 million guns in this country. The anti-gun types know that but so far, only Feinstein, Cuomo and a handful of other politicians are willing to admit that that is their goal. The rest seem content to chip away slowly, growing ever closer to confiscation, and then doing it.

    • Wake Up

Remove the guns from circulation, remove the risks of them falling into the wrong hands. Period. End of story.

      • How do you propose to confiscate 300 million guns, how do you plan on stopping their re-importation? You could pass a law forbidding it, I suppose, just as your previous laws have stopped illegal immigration, drugs and murder. Great ideas need only be repeated again and again in the face of failure and their genius will finally be recognized.

      • Joe Plunkett

What!? Are you out of your fucking mind? We cant even keep our borders secure, or drugs from being smuggled into the US; much less guns being put into the hands of criminals. “Remove the guns from circulation”, the only accomplishment here would be disarming the law abiding citizens. Do you honestly think that criminals will just give up their arms just because weapons are illegal? Wake Up dumbass. This isn’t a fairy tail world. Not everybody abides by the law. This law will only disarm the law abiding citizens, remove their ability to protect themselves, and boost the crime rate substantially.

        • Real Torme

          “fairy tail world?” Oh my…

        • US Army Combat Veteran

@Real Torme: My mistake, I accidentally misspelled fairy tale. Auto correct could have been the culprit here. I was unaware you were an English professor. How about this:
“Fuck you.” (spelled correctly and in proper format)

Real Torme: “fairy tail world?” Oh my…

          How pedantic!

But as a lover of minutiae, I’m sure you’d prefer this: “fairy tail world?” Oh my… — Real Torme. And the three dots symbolize something omitted; is there something more you should have emitted? Why cut yourself short: We’re talking broadband here.

But yet you will whine all day long about your 1st ,4th and 5tht amendment being stomped on! If you don’t think I should have a 2nd amendment right to bear arms then I don’t think yoou should have a 1st amendment right to political, religious or new press freedom? Of course I wouldn’t because I am not like you!

Obama has executed US citizens without “annoying things” like a trial and without much complaint from the left. Why would trampling the 2nd Amendment Rights matter to him? And if you protest too much he can have you locked up indefinitely without charges. Anyone out there regretting their vote? Good thing I still have Swiss citizenship, time to brush up on my French…..

What a good idea- banning guns in the US. Then we could pass a law that criminals are not allowed to smuggle in guns from Mexico and Canada- problem solved!

    • AJ

Unfortunately, Canada almost always bows to US pressure, and whatever the US does Canada follows suit, although we do have a Conservative government right now, the Tories, originally the Conservative Reform Alliance Party, or CRAP. I couldn’t believe when they brought the proceeds of crime law in (under a Liberal government), which means that just like in the US they can seize all your assets if you are charged with a crime, leaving you penniless to defend yourself against the unlimited resources of the Crown (State). Guilty until proven innocent.

  6. Would a couple of guns with clips saved our dead Ambassador ?
He and B. could have saved that life.

Obama and his Washington friends live in an isolated, inbred bubble in DC. They have no idea of the strength of the attachment we hold to our liberties here in middle America (I’m writing from Indiana). A barely-advertised “small” gun show in our area will draw 2000 people in a weekend. At the quarterly gun show at the state fair grounds there will be 1000 men and women waiting in line a hour before the door opens at 2:00 on a Friday afternoon, and total attendance will pass 6000–yet I know many gun owners who have never gone to a gun show. It is not uncommon for people around here to have 10 or 15 yard pistol ranges in their basements. Bottom line: people out here cannot conceive of any useful or even benign purpose in our government seeking greater control over something that is part of our everyday life, and especially if it infringes on an original right guaranteed by our constitution. I am saddened by the tone-deafness and power hunger of our leaders because I believe they are pushing the nation ever closer to a serious civil disturbance.

Drugs have been banned for many, many years and they have killed hundreds of thousands, yet Law Enforcement can only stop 10% at Best.
Ban firearms or at least certain ones will increase the size of the Black Market and allow the Gov and the Criminal Minded to take more victims.
The Gov is not interested in saving lives, they’re interested in controlling
every aspect of our lives, and the only way there is to destroy the Bill of Rights, which by the way many don’t have a clue what they are.
    We have failed Our ForeFathers.

    • AJ

The fact that drugs are illegal causes many deaths. Not only is quality control an issue — who manufactured the stuff, but also the cut, or the rate that it’s been stepped on is always in doubt, i.e., is that needle you’re sticking in your arm going to be a pleasant journey to “nirvana” or the seventeen second rush (seventeen seconds to death). Misinformation or complete lack of it is also a killer: how many people know that smoking opium and mixing it with even moderate drink can cause you to fall asleep and never wake up, not to mention all the deaths from gang related activity?

The drug war a huge success:

All assault and military-type weapons must be outlawed and then confiscated. And they will be. There is no reason for anyone to own these things. Conservatives can accept it and bow to reason, or they can wander in the electoral wilderness for another eight years.

    • Anonymous

You would see a HUGE uprising regarding this, and much bloodshed.

Disarmament on any level is just another babystep towards pacification of the populace. With 52 Million gun owners, you can be assured that it would be suicide to go against the wishes of such a large percentage of the population. Even if it was only 10% of that, they outnumber the Military and Law Enforcement (those who remain administration loyalists) Four to One!!!

Once you take away or dilute one amendment in the Bill of Rights, what’s to stop the others from being attacked or skewed to best suit the needs of your heads of state?
Try and disarm us. We will stand and fight for our freedoms.

Good luck. Hope to see you behind us and not in front when/if this goes down.

    • I’ll consider giving up the Second Amendment if you’ll repeal the 16th. Until then ….

Sense–the leftist liberal media can also stop making films and music and television that portray, and promote, violence and weapons as being cool. Oh and while you’re at it, take away the accounting tax breaks afforded the film industry. It’s only fair, of course.

military officers are sworn to uphold the constitution, right? if it (or a law that’s passed) changes to the detriment of gun owners, while an outrage, the chain of command requires obedience to orders and enforcement of the law.

in a populist uprising, i would not want to be on the opposite side of the barrel facing a trained soldier in the army, marines, etc., even though they likely sympathize with the gun owner. they will not risk insubordination nor turn a blind eye or not shoot if shot upon.

so all this macho talk of standing up for your rights in the face of tyranny, umm…..you’ll succumb to the police state and you will like it….or die.

    just as the obamunists intend.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

        Hey Jody……You forgot somthing.

I, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

        • AJ

Yeah Sarge, the “following orders” defence worked real well for the guys on trial at Nuremberg.

        • US Army Combat Veteran

Oh, I didn’t forget. By signing an order that essentially nullifies the right to bare arms, the president has performed a treasonous act. He took an oath of office to support and defend the constitution. By signing this executive order, the president has become a domestic enemy of the United States in his attempts to remove our rights to keep and bare arms. Therefore, “obey the orders of the president” no longer applies. My oath still stands, I will support and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Obama being a domestic enemy.

    • US Army Combat Veteran

You think there are a lot of soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors currently serving, try to imagine how many highly trained veterans there are out there, and how many highly trained gun owners who will support the second amendment. A soldiers oath is to support and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

There is a reason the government should fear the people.

    • capncrunched

If it comes to that, then it will be a question of dying like a man now, or dying like a worm later. I think a lot of people will choose the former.
FWIW, soldiers aren’t supermen. (I was one once, so I ought to know.)
Soldiers also have family, and might want to think twice before mowing down Americans on Obama’s orders – if they don’t want something nasty to happen to their spouse/parents/kids. (There’s other ways of resisting than direct, showdown-at-high-noon combat, you know.)

    • Anonymous

Obama taking away the second amendment would be the duty to serve and protect the American people and the constitution that I swore under oath for. This means Obama taking the 2nd Amendment away would be defending the people’s constitution by getting rid of Obama. I can guarantee 50-75% of soldiers of all branches would not follow an order of his if he takes an amendment from the constitution, if he swore under oath to protect it, then that is his duty. His duty is not to take away but defend it from both foreign and domestic. If he takes it away, he has just committed a few crimes by lying under oath and treason for going against our constitution. Obama does not have the balls to even try this. He knows he would lose this battle. If you were a Soldier would you kill your Brothers, cousins, fathers and friends all because of a dictator views. The federal gov’t would not be able to stop an uprising if 30 million or more Americans fought against this. This would lead to a gov’t collapse in which would create a lot of chaos, police not knowing what to do, military not know what to do, our borders being over taken, other country’s such as Iran and N. Korea using this to their advantage, in which would lead to another Nasty Bloodshed Revolutionary war.

    • AJ

You forget that a handful of sandal clad Arabs running around armed with nothing more than AK-47s, grenade launchers, cell phones and detonators, brought the worlds largest, most technologically advanced army to a complete standstill until the US paid them to stop fighting. Unless the Gov wants to kill everybody, they’ll have to fight for ground and this is what that looks like: von blitzkrieg zum Stillstand

      • AJ

Oops, looks like I can’t spell in German either: I meant, vom blitzkrieg zum Stillstand (from Blitzkrieg to standstill).

The utopian, unrealistic liberals in Westport, Santa Monica and Chappaqua simply wish to make guns disappear. So they would pass a law outlawing guns. Presto! Problem solved, no?

Back in the real world, the murderers in Chicago’s south side, E. St. Louis, E. LA, and the Bronx won’t simply walk into the police station and turn in their guns. Duh!

What’s Barry really trying to do here?

These things are never announced without an outcome and pre-determined end game in mind. He tried Fast and Furious; it failed, but he got away with it, no resignations, no convictions, no press.

Barry knows that a ban via Executive Order is illegal and un-Constitutional, not that those factors deter him. He admits there would be resistance to registrations, bans, and confiscations, even to the point of major civil conflict.

He can count on a loud and distracting debate given the polarization. He effectively can control the volume of noise by the extremeness of his Executive Order.

He can count on the support of a powerful propaganda machine from his useful idiots in media and academia.

Is he actively seeking civil war? If so, to what end?

What could he be hiding that he would need the cover of a debate which is guaranteed to be loud and rancorous: impending collapse of his centrally planned economy; staging for a covert coup made overt?

Or is it as simple as narcissistic overreach?

Readers, any thoughts? What’s Barry up to?

  19. Discouraged Citizen

In our own state, our Governor just appointed a “Sandy Hook Advisory Commission” to recommend new state laws on relevant topics (including laws on “gun violence prevention”). Here are the members:

Scott Jackson (Chair): Mayor, Town of Hamden
Dr. Adrienne Bentman: Director, Adult Psychiatry Residency Program, Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living
Ron Chivinski: Teacher, Newtown Middle School
Robert Ducibella: Founding Principal, DVS Security Consulting and Engineering
Terry Edelstein: Nonprofit Liaison to Governor Malloy
Kathleen Flaherty: Staff Attorney, Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc. / Facilitator and State Trainer, National Alliance for Mental Illness in Connecticut
Dr. Alice M. Forrester: Executive Director, Clifford W. Beers Guidance Clinic, Inc.
Dr. Ezra Griffith: Professor Emeritus of and Senior Research Scientist in Psychiatry, Deputy Chair for Diversity and Organizational Ethics, Department of Psychiatry, Yale University
Patricia Keavney-Maruca: Member, State Board of Education / Former technical high school teacher
Christopher Lyddy: Outgoing State Representative, 106th Assembly District of Newtown / Program Manager, Trainer & Consultant, Advanced Trauma Solutions, Inc. / Former Program Director, Youth Equipped for Success!, Forensic Health Services, Inc. / Former Clinical Supervisor, Juvenile Risk Reduction Center, Community Solutions, Inc. [Membership effective January 10, 2013]
Denis McCarthy: Fire Chief, City of Norwalk
Barbara O’Connor: Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police, University of Connecticut
Wayne Sandford: Professor, University of New Haven, Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice & Forensic Sciences / Former Deputy Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security / Former Fire Chief, Town of East Haven
Dr. David J. Schonfeld: Director, National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement / Professor, University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics
Dr. Harold I. Schwartz: Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living / Vice President, Behavioral Health, Hartford Hospital / Professor of Psychiatry, University of Connecticut School of Medicine
Bernard R. Sullivan: Former Chief of Police, City of Hartford / Former Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Public Safety / Former Chief of Staff to House Speaker Tom Ritter

Note that not one member seems to know anything at all about sport shooting, hunting or gun law (there is no representative from any gun owner group). Rather, members are a hodgepodge of academics, former police officers, a teacher and one Fire Chief (!). This does not bode well for Connecticut gun owners (or anyone else interested in rational lawmaking about guns).

Is there no organized group in Connecticut advocating for maintaining Second Amendment (and Connecticut Constitution) guaranteed gun rights?

Ranting in blogs is not a winning strategy (or, indeed, any sort of strategy). All that is necessary for evil (or politically motivated stupidity) to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

    Dude –
This is abhorrent, offensive, despicable, insufferable, reprehensible and untenable. Jackie Chiles Dude!!

But I do think the Golfer in Chief is really going down this unlawful path. Ultimately they want to confiscate all guns, and disarm the citizenry. They have said it. IN PLAIN SIGHT DUDE!! How long have I been telling you this? You dummy.

Why else drones over America? DHS buying all the ammo, to prepare for civil unrest, I think. And they are buying hollow points, which you can’t even use on a battlefield. The TSA is softening us up. The thug they call Holder is able to detain any American, with no due process.

All the building blocks are in place for a massive power play by the Chosen One and his minions, I tell ya!!

And I don’t even wear a tin foil hat! I am partial to some handcuffs and a ball gag, but if it is good for the Clergy, why the hell not? Am I right?

Anyhows, this is far from over, but I think Barry is pushing this country to an even more dangerous place than he already has.

    Your Pal,

P.S – To the DHS who monitor this blog:

I assuredly could be wrong here….. But, from all I have seen of Barack Obama, he appears to me to be the biggest narcissist ever as president. I believe that this characteristic influences much of what he does.

He seems to believe that if he thinks something is a good idea, then he can put it into place. And – why not? Obama won his first election in 1996 by getting his opponents removed from the ballot with “hardball” disqualification of signatures. When running for president, he’s raised money from questionable sources – and never met with any serious challenges. Without skirting around rules and laws, Obamacare never could have been passed. And – irrespective of the issue or the act, the press has his back – not reporting his faux pas and failures, dissembling – delivering utterly different coverage than other presidents have faced.

Why should something as simple as the Constitution and the 2nd amendment seem to be a barrier to this man now?

  22. weakleyhollow

The executive order deal is just a trial balloon, but the essence of the original Progressive concept is that the Constitution is an quaint and inconvenient impediment to progress in the modern age.

    • Walt

The only problem with this is if you live in Wyoming, the only reason you need a gun is to shoot yourself, and if you need a semiautomatic to do that, you deserve to live in Wyoming. Right?

What other reason is there to own a gun in Wyoming? No one has ever stolen a double wide, as far as I know. There is no reason to break into a double wide. What are you going to steal? The glass jelly jar drink glasses? Are you going to shoot someone for sleeping with your sheep girlfriend? Why bother? There are many, many more where that lamb came from. So why bother?

So Wyoming has great gun laws. But that is akin to being able to make more ice in Alaska, me thinks.

We need carry rights in places like Chicago and NY, where people have a legitimate reason to own guns and protect themselves. And other innocents.

    • weakleyhollow

Nullification has been tried and found wanting. Sorry.

      • It wouldn’t be found wanting if tens of millions of Americans demand it – the other side never gives up and we shouldn’t either.

He is a law abiding, God fearing, loyal American (and a Free and Accepted Mason ;o)). He lives in Pinko Connecticut and will not go quietly. Imagine please, the reaction to any attempts at confiscation in western PA, TX, KS, AK, AR, upstate or Suffolk Co. NY, WI etc.

Without the 2a The rest of the constitution is worthless.

  25. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to arm people in order to prevent future tyranny. They need the tools to do this.

The term “Well Regulated” in the Second Amendment meant “Well Manned and Equipped ” in 1791 as was determined in the 1939 United States v. Miller case after referencing the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. The concept of Government Regulation, as we understand it today, did not exist at the time.

United States v. Miller also determined that the term “Arms” refers to “Ordinary Military Weapons” (not crew operated). American Citizens have the right to Keep and Bear, which means Own and Carry, any weapons that a soldier carries into battle. That includes past, present and future weapons. A Militia consisted of armed volunteers willing to fight with their personal arms and not under government control.

The 2008 Heller v. Washington DC decision reaffirmed that the Right to Bear Arms was an Individual right. The 2010 McDonald v. Chicago decision reaffirmed it yet again and made it clear that it applies to every state, every city and every town in the United States.

To limit the Second Amendment to muskets would be the equivalent of limiting the First Amendment to writings in quill pens.

Liberty is worth the risk of death!

  26. If Obama’s makes an executive order on that it is unconstitutional it is not valid, period. Politicians are becoming obviously dictatorial and we must stand against them. They are no better than anyone else and deserve no more rights than non politicians.
Americans stand firm, never give up your arms- citizens from the U.K., Australia and even Russia are sending us messages to warn us.
They are currently living without the right to protect themselves from tyranny – crime is skyrocketing and they don’t feel safe in their own homes. They want their freedom and right to defend themselves back and we are their last hope.
Unconstitutional laws must be rejected by the people. The only way they can become laws accept them as laws. They can’t win if we are united that is why they use tactics to divide us. Don’t fall for it.
We have to restore our freedoms ourselves. The deck is stacked against us right now. We are the only ones, no one else is going to do it for us.
Notice no lawyers ever come to the defense of the American people’s rights? Because they are all trained in leftist universities in international law and could care less about U.S. sovereignty and our rights.
Common sense and the constitution must be our guide. It’s us, that’s it.
BTW I have been noticing that some conservative radio hosts talk up the constitution but when you try to call in with a valid plan, they don’t want to hear it or shoot it down- suspicious. As I said we are on our own.
The word Nullification has to become mainstream with the people.
The States created the federal government and can neuter it by using the right of nullification, which is the right of the states to reject federal laws that are unconstitutional. What a concept- it could be our way back.
Never really heard about that before – wonder why:)
They never planned on the internet but thank God for it.

    • Peg

Liberals never seem to mind actions that are either unconstitutional or unlawful – as long as they like them. Since liberals have so much difficulty comprehending basic logic, they never seem to understand that if THIS is OK, then similar actions on issues that they greatly dislike have to be, also.

The mind of a liberal is a dangerous thing.

  27. Pinzgsuer

Forgetting the issue at hand for a moment, how can this be a land of law and order if there is even one person who is not bound by it. – even, or maybe especially, if that person is the President
Although logistically not feasible in the past, maybe with today’s l communications the Representative Republic should be changed to a Direct Democratic model. Now wouldn’t THAT change everything back to “We The People…”. Naive, I know.
Liberals know they do not actually represent the majority of Americans and politicians would become pretty much irrelevant.

  28. Artie

“So now I get it. Now I see what’s happening. So this is what it is: their paranoid fear of a possible dystopic future prevents us from addressing our actual dystopic present. We can’t even begin to address 30,000 actual gun deaths that are actually, in reality, happening in this country every year because a few of us have to remain vigilant against imaginary Hitler.”

The majority of those deaths are “urban youth” in cities run by Democrats.

Remember: Hitler was legally and correctly elected, consolidated power in a largely but not completely correct process, had the benefit of a massive propaganda machine, the cover of economic challenges, selectively executed thuggish beat-down of opponents, some well-placed false flag incidents, and demonized perceived scapegoats. It took Adolf nearly a decade to accomplish his consolidation of power in Germany; he was the transition from the Weimar to the Reich. Compared to Barry and his election fraud, legal and Constitutional usurpations, falsified government economic reporting and mainstream media sycophants, union & libtard activists, the thusfar failed false flag of Fast and Furious, the racist demonization of whites and the classist demonization of the “1%, “ol’ Adolph was a by-the-book kinda’ guy.

      • Peg

        “It can’t happen here.”

What my mother told me, over and over, was what Jews said in the ’30’s in Germany. Of course, early on they couldn’t even conceive of what “it” would ultimately become.

What is that statement about being “doomed to repeat”?!?!?

        • Artie

Four more years of Obama, and he’s out. This is still America (this is America, right?), and there are still 3 levels of checks and balances.
          Please read the quote again…

        • Anonymous

          Here you go Peg,
This piece by Austrian Kitty Werthmann – who lived through the times, may add to the stories your mother told you:

        • Artie

Contrary to popular belief, history does not repeat itself. Just because it’s a saying, doesn’t mean it’s true. Certainly we need to learn from those who have gone before us. Do you have any children? I do. I try to teach them lessons that I have learned from my mistakes – they still make them on their own, and then learn for themselves.

Anyone who is comparing Obama to Hitler is trying to scare people. Plain and simple. (I am not a fan of our current president, and did not vote for him). Fear makes people act in funny ways – they want to protect themselves, while forgetting about others.

        • Wake Up

The proposition that Obama is like Hitler is absolutely ludicrous and shows the intelligence of a 4 yr old child trying to piece logic together and grappling at tenuous likenesses in an effort to prove to the class that she should get a gold star. Shows the state of the American education system.

      • Artie

So because the deaths are in urban areas they’re ok? Interesting thought process.

        • Anonymous

No judgment on ok or not ok. Simple statement of fact, that gun deaths are concentrated among in urban sub-populations and not dispersed widespread throughout the population.

If you want to compare, Concealed Carry Weapon permit holders are 5+ orders of magnitude more law-abiding, than the welfare trash of the “professional urban Democratic Party voters.”

        • If people actually cared about the deaths of young black Americans they’d do something about it and I don’t mean by passing still more gun laws: Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country and has a murder rate among black males that’s the highest in the nation, 3X that of even NYC. between the war on poverty, the war on drugs and whatever other feel good harmful schemes hatched and foisted on these poor kids that you can remember (Head Start’s one, come to think of it) we’ve produced multiple generations of children who grow up in fatherless homes, uneducated, illiterate and unhireable because of felony drug possession arrests. We don’t care and that is especially true of Democrats and their crocodile tears.

        • AJ

I guess it is OK because I never heard anyone in the Administration or Congress get worked up about Blacks killing Blacks. I guess there’s nothing in it for them to exploit.

  29. Artie

Saying that more gun deaths happen where there is a greater concentration of people is a logical statement. Saying almost anything happens more where there are more people is a logical statement. Saying that you are not judging that the deaths of 30,000 in those more populated areas one way or the other is ridiculous. You tip your prejudicial hand a bit by referring to human beings as “trash” – wtf is wrong with you? What kind of a person are you?

    • Anonymous

It’s a simple recitation of FBI crime statistics. Most gun deaths, shooters and victims are young urban black males. Eliminate them from the stats, and the gun violence numbers go way down.

Fat, lazy, degenerate, illiterate, unemployed, socially & culturally crippled, murderous, criminally inclined wards of the state, are you inviting them over to your house for dinner and socializing, or just engaging in some morally arrogant hypocrisy?

      • Artie

Interestingly enough, I don’t doubt the statistics. Funny though, I’m pretty sure that FBI statistics don’t refer to people as trash. You do. I think that puts you in the “socially & culturally crippled” category. Of course, since I don’t know you, I’m not sure of your weight, energy level, level of education. employment status, etc… I’ll just put my own label on you: imbecile. (You may recall that the lower levels of intelligence, going downward are: moron, idiot, imbecile – wanted to save you the google time…)

        • Anonymous

Add combat veteran to your list.

        • Anonymous

You ignorant, judgmental sack of sh*t.

          • Artie

First, thank you for your service. Second I am judgmental because I refer to one person as an imbecile well you refer to an entire race as trash? As a combat veteran were you thinking of the people you were protecting while you were there? Were you only fighting for whites?

        • Anonymous

The facts are the facts, that is where most of the gun violence is concentrated.

You implied the comment was race-based, when it wasn’t. If anything it was class-based. You incorrectly are projecting your racism upon others.

Why do I suspect that your social rolodex is racially indistinguishable from a Klansman’s?

          • Artie

I apologize for my error, Anon – I did not make a distinction between race and class. (CF was the one who mentioned “black youth”)

            The rest stands.

(It is also difficult to respond to anonymous as it there are multiple people who use that moniker…

    • AJ

Artie, there you go using that old libtard trick of putting words in peoples mouth: I did not see the word trash used in CF’s post. • AJ

So certain you’re right, you won’t even consider another point of view — a prodigious example of the result of the lack of critical thinking that a modern education provides. Attacking the messenger instead of the message means you have lost the debate.

  30. Artie

Why can’t we just refer to these victims as Americans? Why do they have to be “young black” Americans?

I find it interesting that people fight for this county and its citizens every day. My father fought at Iwo Jima. Interestingly enough, he didn’t only fight for the 1%, or for whites, or those that live in the suburbs. He fought for Americans. I suggest we all do the same.

    • Artie, Democrats stopped referring to anyone as an “American” back in 1964 when they began to segregate various people into discrete victim classes. Negroes first, then any hyphenated-American so long as they weren’t of European origin, then women, gays, transvestites and troglodytes (those who weren’t included in the other classes). The only “Americans” left in today’s politicized and polarized landscape are white male oppressors.
      Surprised you haven’t noticed that.

      • Artie

I’m actually quite surprised that just because Democrats refer to people in one way that you would think that that was the way for you to refer to them.

I guess I’m one if those white oppressors. Hmmm

        • Not just Democrat, Artie- have you scanned a high school text book on American History (excuse me, Theirstory) lately? The press, the education system and the Democrats have buried the melting pot idea of America and only old curmudgeons like us still think that’s something to strive for.

        • AJ

The purpose of language is to define things. Libtards prefer to cloud issues and obscure things: that way they can get you to agree to what you really don’t. I say let’s ban all modifiers from the English language. Here, here, hip hip hurrah.

  31. FlyAngler

So here is a question: Should Obama effectively eviscerate the Second Amendment and threaten protections under the Fourth or Fifth, could the Republican-controlled House bring articles of impeachment against him? I know the standard is “high crimes and misdemeanors” but the President took an oath to honor and protect the Constitution (and its Amendments). I am far from a Constitutional scholar (or a scholar of any type), but could this not be a course of action?

Biden’s mention of executive action was part trail balloon and part negotiating ploy to show the other side that they “mean it” this time. How about some reasonably respected and gun friendly Congressman (or woman) suggest in front of a microphone that actions hostile to the US Constitutions might have to be reviewed vis-a-vis articles of impeachment.

I bet that would set everyone to a higher DefCon than we are all at right now.

  32. Wake Up

So all you gun-lovers are prepared for a showdown at OK Corral, and are prepared to give your life, just so you can hold onto your AK47!! This is priceless and shows just how ridiculous your demographic is. When other people around the world are genuinely oppressed and fighting for freedom from a real tryanical regime, you are threatening civil war for the sake of preserving your machine gun in your trailer?

    • AJ

Re: So all you gun-lovers are prepared for a showdown at OK Corral, and are prepared to give your life, just so you can hold onto your AK47!!

Not gun-lovers but lovers of the Republic: something many have already given their lives for, something millions are still willing to fight for.

  33. Libertarian Advocate

Basically, in the context of impeachment proceedings, the term “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” means whatever Congress chooses it to mean. That said, any particular president’s conduct would have to be pretty damned egregious for the house to initiate impeachment. While such a bill (indictment really) would likely clear the house, we already know that it would go nowhere in this Senate, so it’s unlikely the House repubes – particularly with Boehner at the helm – would waste what precious little capital they have left to proceed against Obama now. At least I can’t see it happening.

    • D

Completely agree LA. Congress can’t get out of its was to accomplish anything so there’s no reason to believe they could get something like an impeachment done. I’m hoping this inability to act helps stave off any new gun legislation too…

      • FlyAngler

LA & D – Note that I did not mention anything about the process moving past the House. In fact, I intentionally limited my suggestion to someone saying it out loud in front of a working microphone. I TOTALLY understand the issue shere. However, this WH and the Dem leadership are playing fast and loose with Constitutional ideals and feel emboldened enough for “Joe just being Joe” Biden to threaten executive orders.

Someone needs to take the swagger out of these guys and get the conversation back to the real issues here like our wayward young men, psychotropic drugs, the lack of empathy on display, etc.

Do you for a moment think Obama, with a new cabinet, wants to burn any political capital discussing potential impeachment charges? Mine was not a call for impeachment, just an effort for someone to toss a rhetorical M80 in the room and redirect people’s attention.

As for executive orders, maybe you fans of the President might want to check his views on executive orders back when he was a lowly senator, and a republican was in the WH.

  34. Peg

I am not for a moment comparing Obama to Hitler. Hitler is in a very small class of greatest tyrants and murderers ever.

What I am really talking about is the people who say “Oh; this is America! It can’t happen here!”

America is human beings. We have strengths and frailties like people in any other nation. While I agree with those who would say our history and our Constitution and our diversity of backgrounds & religions would make certain outcomes vastly less likely here than in many other nations….. ultimately, it is our actions and responses that really matter.

I do not expect Obama to be rounding up Republicans and putting them into concentration camps – nor anything like that (even though FDR did something on that order…) But do I think that our rule of law can really crack? Do I think he can try to override our Constitution, and then…. well, who knows exactly what? I sure do – particularly if we, the people remain more concerned about our iphones and Facebook and shopping and TV shows instead of preserving our basic liberties and fiscal responsibility -etc.

  35. Anonymous

Peg, Obama would not round everyone up and put ’em in camps. Yes, that’s a bit extreme. Will never happen. Instead they’ll just take everyone’s money who has it, and leave ’em hangin’ to drift in the wind. It’s a totally nonviolent redistribution revolution. As he probably intends.

  36. sicko

why not re name the bushmaster gun the schoolmaster?

    • AJ

Perhaps if you came out of your trance, you might find out.

…“Aurora police seized four prescription bottles and immunization records when they searched theater-shooting suspect James Holmes’ apartment in July, according to newly obtained filings in the murder case against Holmes,” reports the Denver Post.

However, the documents are heavily redacted and the exact identity of the drug has been withheld.

Given the fact that Holmes was under psychiatric care before the shooting, it’s almost certain that the drugs found were some form of anti-depressant or SSRI, which have repeatedly been linked with mass shootings in recent years….

Why is no one in the MSM mentioning this:

…As David Kupelian reported for WND, there’s a “giant, gaping hole” in the media’s reporting of the Sandy Hook shooting: discussion of mass killers on psychotropics.

“It is simply indisputable that most perpetrators of school shootings and similar mass murders in our modern era were either on – or just recently coming off of – psychiatric medications,” Kupelian wrote….

Ben Franklin in response to a question:
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

      We intend to keep it.

‘Eric Holder: Gun Owners Should ‘Cower’ in Shame Like Smokers’

“At the end of this clip, Holder says anti-gun ads should run every day, and we need to “really brainwash people to think about guns in a vastly different way.””

    • RL

After this sorry POS is involved in sending guns across the border against our laws that result in the deaths of not only a US Border Patrolman but other innocent lives south of the border, then he wants to RUN HIS MOUTH like he has a RIGHT TO DO SO ? Holder you need to shut the #$%^ UP ! and go crawl under a rock you are scum.

  39. FlyAngler

This is how the Overton Window works. The heretofore unspeakable is spoken at the fringe. Then it becomes less scary and can be articulated somewhere between the fringe and the partisan end of the spectrum. Then, the public well conditioned, it can be spoken by the mainstream of that particular party or ideology. Then, due to some event causing people to say “enough” with great emotion, the political middle says what was unspeakable three versions back.

The Left has been telling the gun community for decades that they are not “after your guns”. Seems to me calls for virtual or actual disarmament is breaking out all over. First they will come for the ARs/AKs and the “high capacity magazines”. Then all semi-automatic pistols and auto-loading shotguns*. Then revolvers and pump shotguns. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Progressivism has been doing this since the early 1900s. It is happening today with “gun control” as the non-ideological middle is screaming “enough” and will accept almost any “solution”, even things thought unthinkable by 90% of the populace just one short generation ago.

    * For you folks who own 1911s and Remington 1100s and the like, your time will come. They want the Glocks and other double stacks now but it is only a matter of time before some future massacre is done without high-cap mags and the Controllers realize it is the rate of fire, not mag capacity that they really wanted to control. Slipper slope folks.

And for you duck hunters who feel you are insulated from all this, you too will be subject to Blumenthal’s ammo purchase background checks.

    • AJ

The progressives you refer to are fake progressives, actually libtards, or had wringing, bleeding heart liberals — Thomas Jefferson was a real progressive.

  40. AJ

Alex Jones was supposed to debate Alan Dershowitz on the Piers Morgan show, but after Morgan’s failure in being able to control the debate between Jones and himself, they threw Jones off the show and Dershowitz and Morgan decided to have a polite discussion and give Jones the good drubbing he should have gotten while he was on the air. Apparently, Dershowitz chickened out: he’s afraid to debate Jones. Piers, of course is a spineless worm, who would shoot those, or suggests others should do the shooting for him, who disagree with him on gun control, while comparing himself to John Lennon. What’s he trying to do? Create the next Mark David Chapman? The man should be deported. Sign the petition to deport Piers Morgan.

  41. Off with His Head

By taking the rights of millions away for the simple “because I can” is not a good enough excuse to use an executive Order. By using these without JUSTIFIED reasoning, he can be impeached. There is a reason they are called criminals ; they don’t obey laws. The fact Obama thinks these same criminals that shoot people freely are going to listen to this new LAW, makes him look even more incompetent.
I’m sorry BUT, saving ONE life at the lives of millions is not a justified reason.
