Ten years, no Ike memorial, no $62 million. Where’d it go?

Chump change in D.C., but the money could have supported at least a truncated version of the White House Easter Egg hunt. No one seems to know where $62 million, allocated and disbursed by Congress to further desecrate the South Mall, has upped and gone. We know where it didn’t go: the memorial, which was never built. That blessing is probably cheap at any price.

Isn’t this the memorial that was going to honor Ike by portraying him as a child, a little barefoot kid in overalls and the family had a fit when they saw it, so it was going to be “re-worked”? What a freakin’ joke.

    • Yup – the family actually asked that it just be dropped entirely, but once a boondoggle gets the wind behind it, it goes on forever – federally subsidized windmills, for example.

  2. Worse joke… the FDR memorial on East River…..
Was hoping for the 38 foot 1938 storm surge that more than kissed Providence and surrounds under his Presidency ….but Sandy let me down…..
It makes the new CVS here almost look good…..
Even worse joke tax money is going to be spent at over a billion to put a PE brain training center on same isle…..

But where/how that $62 million disappear? It sounds like there very well may be some criminal culpability here (as in embezzling, stealing, fraud). That’s a lot of dough to just go, but will Eric Holder and his Justice Department try to find the culprits? Isn’t that his job?

[B]ut will Eric Holder and his Justice Department try to find the culprits? Isn’t that his job?

No, his job is to run interference for Barack.
