What I was saying

Greenwich Democrats assist Harbor Master in removing offending moorings

Greenwich Democrats assist Harbor Master in removing offending moorings (Stephanie Paulmeno, rear)

Google “Republican date rape comments” and you’ll find lots of results, all devoted to excoriating the person who made them, but this one from “Ranker” serves as a pretty typical example:

The 9 Most Horribly Insensitive Republican Rape Comments

Yup, insensitive Republicans who distinguish between “rape-rape” and “date-rape” are in there but not, surprisingly, Greenwich Democrat First Selectman candidate Stephanie Paulmeno’s own contribution. *

Quell surprise.

*Greenwich Time, May 10, 2010: “I do believe no is no,” Paulmeno said. “(But) someone who has committed a rape is far different from someone who has committed a date rape. Someone who’s taking a picture is far different from someone who has molested a child.”

And the Emperor issues yet another edict

It's cool to be King

It’s cool to be King

Orders ICE agents and federal prosecutors to ignore federal law and stop detaining and  deporting illegal alien parents

The Obama administration issued a new policy Friday that says immigration agents should try not to arrest and deport illegal immigrant parents of minor children. The move adds to the categories of people the administration is trying not to deport.

This is all part of a concerted campaign, directed from Washington and being conducted across the country. Last week, Legal Insurrection reported on the seemingly coincidental appearance at Congressional Town Hall meetings held throughout our country this summer, where a youngster would approach the microphone and ask her congressman, “why do you want to deport my Daddy?” What seemed at first to be an honest question asked by a worried youngster, Professor Jacobson reports, was actually a political ploy, repeated at dozens of such events, all videoed by Democrat operatives.

So Obama is responding to “pressure” that he himself deliberately created. And he is ordering his minions to violate the law of the land. Obama, you may remember, twice swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the laws of the United States. He broke that oath as the words left his lips.

I think that’s the liberals’ intention, although I’m not sure why

NYC Crime Patrol

NYC Crime Patrol

NYPD union advises its members to take no initiative on the street.

Nypd beat cops posted a police-union warning in every precinct yesterday instructing officers not to go above and beyond the call of duty — or risk losing their jobs because of the new stop-and-frisk laws, The Post has learned.

“All officers should take action if he or she sees a crime in progress, or if he or she sees that his or her life or the life of another person is in danger . . . [But] all officers should be careful not to initiate any law-enforcement action that could be construed as violating the new legislation and subject the officer to legal action,” read the memo by Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch.

Several rank-and-file cops said yesterday that they plan on following Lynch’s advice rather than risk their careers.

“We are being told not to look for perpetrators of crimes because then we are opening ourselves up to a lawsuit and the job isn’t going to represent us,” a police source said.

“Crime is about to skyrocket. We are going to show up and take reports. This was the safest city in the country . . . Now most crimes will go unsolved.”

Another source added: “These rookies are just getting on the job out of college. They’re not going to risk their pensions. Arrests are going to drop, and crime’s going to soar.

Even the bad guys have gotten the memo.

“Perps on the street are saying, ‘If they’re not going to stop me, I’m going to start carrying [my gun] again.’ That’s the word on the street,” said one police source.

“The number of stops is going to go way down, and crime is going to go way up. Shootings and murders are going to come back big time,” the source said.

The sources said most cops want to pursue criminals and make stops, “but now they think if they do, they’re going to get sued and the department won’t have their backs. So now they’re not going to do squat. The situation is just too volatile.”

Real estate news that snuck in late yesterday afternoon

Two more sales and a contract.

33 Boulder Brook

33 Boulder Brook

33 Boulder Brook Road, asked $5.495 million, got $5.050. Market’s coming back for newish construction in mid country. When built in 2008, this was priced at $6.875 and languished on the market until November, 2011 when its price had dropped to $5.495 and sold for $4.882. This time it started at $5.495 and quickly found a buyer.

169 Stanwich Rd

169 Stanwich Rd

169 Stanwich was priced at $1.750 million this spring and it too found a buyer in a short time, closing yesterday for $1.675. This is a nifty property, set way off Stanwich on a private road that’s shared by something like 10 other homes. Good land, very private, but it has a kitchen that looks like an afterthought, and not much elsethat makes sense either, to anyone used to the normal houses of, say, post- 1952. But whether someone likes quirky or is looking to build, this one appears to have sold for land value alone, so the buyer will have some great flexibility in deciding what to do with it.

And speaking of land value, 3 Dingletown Road, $2.295 million, reports a contract. The asking price –  we don’t know the accepted price, yet –  seems a tad high for just a two-acre lot here, but it would appear to me that the house itself adds no value, so we’ll see.

Wag the Dog

Captain Crunch, reporting for duty

Captain Crunch, reporting for duty

With his poll ratings at an all-time low and the new puppy ploy having already lost momentum despite bestowing a Muslim name, “Sunni”,  on the pooch,  the Leader of the Free world tries another gambit: Warships to Syria. Reached for comment, Greenwich Democrat spokesman Bill Gaston explained the latest development to FWIW: “Bush Chaney! Benghazi! No blood for Oil! Bush lied so others died! Bushbushbushbushbush!”

Then he keeled over, asphyxiated.

Another black-on-white killing. No comment from our leader, but Jesse Jackson weighs in on the Oklahoma killing of Chris Lane

Jesse and the Rev. Al frowning on racial violence

88-year-old  Willy Belton beaten to death with flashlights wielded by two black teens but President Obama refused comment because, he said, “if I had a grandfather he sure as hell wouldn’t look like Willy, so what’s it to me?”

The Reverend Jackson, however, in an eloquent and no-nonsense statement, did address the Oklahoma killing yesterday, Tweeting his follower, “The killing of Chris Lane is frowned upon” –  just about exactly the same deep remorse and anger he expressed after Trayvon Martin’s death.

So that’s a relief.

Anti-gun rally: 15 anti’s, 365 reporters

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Protest August 22, 2013

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Protest August 22, 2013

Fifteen people showed up to support the Mike Bloomberg gun ban initiative yesterday, accompanied by the usual entourage of national press. Greenwich Democrat candidate for First Selectman and gun-confiscator activist Stephanie, “There’s rape-rape, then there’s date rape” Paulmeno  did not attend. Reached for comment aboard Harbor Master Ian Macmillan ‘s boat, where she was helping yank moorings that offended the Harbor Master’s eyes, Paulmeno told FWIW, “the day’s rally was promoted as “No More Names”, so I took them at their word and didn’t show up to add my own. Do you think I misunderstood?”

UPDATE: I found the forgiving comments of Ms. Paulmeno towards date rape curious, given her fierce support of  abortion rights based, she says, on an absolute “right of privacy”

If the personal sanctity of your body and the right to make decisions about it is not reason enough, then I don’t know what is. When the audacity of some allows them to feel righteous enough to legally dictate not only what you do with your body but also lets them feel they can play with your mind, this raises the stakes very high for me. I think it should for any woman, and for any man who has a daughter, a wife, a sister or a mother.

What if it’s your date/rapist “playing with your mind”? That’s okay?

And there’s this:

I shudder in horror, and you should, too, that around twenty states now require women considering abortion to submit to a vaginal ultrasound, view the fetus and listen to the heart beat, an unabashed physical and emotional assault, in an effort to dissuade women from choosing an abortion. About ten more states are in discussion about moving forward in this direction. Aside from the unmitigated arrogance, this adds unnecessary cost, is an unwanted/unnecessary procedure, infringes on privacy rights and constitutes state-sanctioned rape and exploitation of women.

The medical dictionary (medicinenet.com) defines rape as, amongst other things, the insertion of an [unwanted] inanimate object into the female vagina. An 8-10 inch vaginal probe, which mandates you to expose your most intimate and private parts, which is unwanted by the woman and her doctor, which serves no medical purpose, and which you are mandated to have against your will, constitutes rape and exploitation in my book.

Who could argue with that? Who, that is, except Stephanie Paulmeno, who seemingly distinguishes between the insertion of an unwanted inanimate object in a woman’s vagina and an unwanted animate object, like your date rapist’s penis: not our soundest of thinkers, poor Stephanie, but as a reader points out, the perfect bookend for the Greenwich Democrat’s other nominee, cult follower Samarpana Tamm. These two are really the best they can do? How revealing.
