Government to the people

Revenge of Obama

Revenge of Obama

A couple of readers have sent links to this story, but I’d hate to see it buried in the comments:

National Parks Service blocks tourists from taking pictures of Mt. Rushmore.

Blocking access to trails and programs at South Dakota’s most popular attraction was one thing, but state officials didn’t expect Congress’ budget stalemate to shut down a view of Mount Rushmore.

The National Park Service placed cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore this week, barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the famed monument.

The cones first went up Oct. 1, said Dusty Johnson, Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s chief of staff. The state asked that they be taken down, and federal officials did so with some of them. The state was told the cones were a safety precaution to help channel cars into viewing areas rather than to bar their entrance.

“I think reasonable people can disagree about that,” Johnson said.

Like the story cited here yesterday, the NPS is seeking to punish us – these closures involve no services previously provided, no expenses whatsoever, except to the bureaucrat’s sense of job security.

“It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

There are more than a few examples like this one with our shutdown that make it clear, this president is trying to create theatre and make the process as painful as possible. It’s not about saving precious taxpayer dollars nor doing what is best for our people; it’s about attempting to say, “Look at how much pain those evil Republicans are causing us.”

Yet, the shutdown could easily be happening without any of the theatrics…. So – what I am wondering, how ridiculous can it get before more than a couple of “the believers” start to have some seeds of doubt about The One? How much can he govern by personal advantage in all things, before the curtain is pulled back?

  2. But the dramatic reduction in the evil carbon footprint is the cause’ celeb…..
Reduce the tourist emissions, already done as much as possible to take industry out,…..and the despicable process of film developing….
Ohh..digital….ohh instant reporting of government scams ohhhhh

Barry is spring loading one heckuva’ backlash, but he’s too much of an asshole and too self absorbed to know it.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. Hardly surprising, given the general pattern of overreach, but I suspect this in-your-face example of it will have the opposite of the effect it was intended to have.

The thug usurpers of the bureaucracy want to send a message: In today’s America, everything is the gift of the government.” All I can say is that I hope the Obamanoids keep this up. They are shoveling their own legitimacy out the window as fast as they can.

This keeps up there will be unrepressable civil disobedience soon.

    Dude –
The Commie in Chief has weaponized the government, and is using it against the people who pay for it. And for whom people like Barry are meant to serve.
The ONLY reason for him to do this is to inflict some pain on folks, and show that they must rely on the Government. It is costing more to close some of these things than it is to leave them open. He is blocking access to people’s homes – that they own – on federal property. He is showing himself for the mean spirited, vindictive person he is.
Guarding the WWII Memorial with German Shepard’s to keep veterans out? An absolute disgrace. But the Memorial stuff is more for show. Using the IRS against your enemies, the DOJ as your own person club to bash those who oppose you, and prevent honest elections, using Executive Orders to limit the right to bear arms, free speech, and dismantle the constitution. All supported by a biased MSM spreading a propaganda of vile hate. THAT IS THE SCARY STUFF.
This guy really is out of control, whipping his moronic progressive followers into a frenzy.

  9. with our stuff shut, we can always cross the pond and check out their stuff:

  10. I would be agreeable to placing large cones around Obonehead, so we don’t have to see or hear him! Preferably leave them in place continuously!
