This might be the solution to my hunting problem

Hey, if it's good enough for Obama...

Hey, if it’s good enough for Obama…

Drone spots feral pigs, directs hunters to location.

What I’d really like is one equipped with small rockets, but that’d probably violate one stupid law or another.

Northeast Utilities, regulated by the state, urges executives to donate to Malloy campaign.

$51,500 collected so far, and the election season has yet to start.

The e-mail has resulted in $46,500 in donations from 20 NU executives, the Courant reported. Prior to the e-mail, NU employees had contributed $5,000 to the state party’s federal account, according to the Courant.

The support comes just more than two years after Malloy blasted Connecticut Light & Power, which is owned by NU, for its response to the October 2011 snowstorm that resulted in massive power outages in the state.

NU in 2012 merged with Boston-based utility NSTAR, a move that was supported by Malloy administration officials “after negotiations that they said will provide benefits for consumers,” the Courant reported.

Malloy is expected to face a tough battle for re-election. Fundraising efforts include breakfast with the governor on Wednesday at a hotel buffet at the Democratic Governors Association conference in Hartford in exchange for a $10,000 sponsorship or a corporate membership in the association for between $100,000 to $250,000, the CT Mirror reported.

When the truth hurts

Goofy on the waterIndependent study concludes that French Euro-Disney union reps are too illiterate and stupid to conduct negotiations.

Hervey Saumade, of the leftist FO union, took the report’s unflattering conclusions on the chin, saying: “We have to accept criticism.

“This report offers an external view. It can help to make things progress.”

One staff member called Pierre – not his real name – told the French capital’s daily that the results “translate the sad truth: our unions are incompetent”.

He blamed management for deliberately dumbing down staff representatives and keep the upper hand.

“Our best representatives have either been fired or discouraged,” he said.

This is what happens when you discover you’re the chump

I guess he's really an asshole, huh?

I guess he’s really an asshole, huh?

Young people would toss the Obumski from office if they could.

The Harvard University Institute of Politics poll of millenials found that 52 percent of young people would recall Obama if that were an option. Among young people age 25 to 29, 40 percent said they would recall the president.

Overall, 47 percent of young people ages 18-29 said they would recall him, while 46 percent said they would not.

They also support recalling every single member of Congress by the same percentage. Guess all their professors and teachers didn’t tell him that when it comes to free lunch, someone’s going to get stuck with the bill. The only way to stop the entitlement culture is to force a large group to realize that they will be providing those entitlements. Screw principle, people act out of self-interest.

We'll make them all beggars 'cause they're easy to please

We’ll make them all beggars ’cause they’re easy to please

Oregon girl, 11, told she can’t sell mistletoe in public park to raise money for her braces, but she can beg – “that’s protected by the First Amendment”.

The guard …  told Madison that she could sell her mistletoe outside the boundaries of the park where the fountain and the market are located, away from the crowds, or she could simply ask for donations to cover the cost of her braces.

“I don’t want to beg! I would rather work for something than beg,” Madison told KATU. “It’s crazy. People can get money for pot. But I can’t get money for braces. I’m working for this! They’re just sitting down on their butts all day asking for pot.”

Orders for her mistletoe are coming in from around the country. Of course, under Obamacare, Madison can just beg the government for braces.

Sales, etc.

Not much activity, but here’s what there is.

15 Otter Rock

15 Otter Rock

15 Otter Rock sold for $6.2 million. This property started off at $8.3 million in 2007, dropped to $6.8 million two years later and limped off the market at the end of 2009, unsold. It returned in January this year, again at $6.8 million and now has sold. Nothing wrong with this old 1892 beauty except that between the time it was built and now Interstate 95 was built right next to it. I personally wouldn’t want that noise, even at the bargain price of $6.2, but ….

21 Sunshine

21 Sunshine

On a somewhat lesser scale, 21 Sunshine Avenue appeared on the market in October this year, went to contract in 11 days and sold yesterday for $830,000. My clients ask why I can’t find them bargains in this price range; this is why.

72 Hillcrest Park Dr

72 Hillcrest Park Dr

72 Hillcrest Park, another antique (1902) sold in 45 days- asked $2.495, got $2.3.

And back in Belle Haven, a noted realtor has placed his Otter Rock house up for sale at $5.5 million. We’ll see how he does at pricing his own home.

Toxic dump on Hillside?

GHS Science Club field trip

GHS Science Club field trip

I’ve been hearing rumors from previously reliable sources that the PCB issue at the high school is about to heat up. I don’t know that for certain, and I certainly don’t pretend to know what it would take to clean up the site, if necessary, but I wonder whether it makes sense to plow $75 million in a new music hall there if we’re facing moving the entire school to a new location.
By the way, if the school were to be condemned, the Democrats’s desire for us to take on massive, long term debt would finally be realized: if a mere auditorium costs $75 million, how much for a whole school?

Another Christmas treat from Obama

Insurance companies automatically enrolling customers in new, more expensive plans.

“It’s a confusing thing for people. Most of the plans didn’t contain all the provisions that were under the law. We had no choice,” [Blue Shield spokesman] Cunningham said. “We’re trying to make it clear for them.”

Think how comforting it will be for a 60-year-old couple, knowing that they’re now entitled to free abortion services and acne cream.

Don’t jump! – yet.

Well in't a "selfie" all about self? Geeze, dude, get over it.

Well in’t a “selfie” all about self? Geeze, dude, get over it.

Woman snaps selfie with suicidal jumper behind her on Brooklyn Bridge. Ah, ’tis the Christmas season.

America’s selfie obsession reached a new low on Tuesday when a woman snapped a cellphone self-portrait that also captured a suicidal man on the Brooklyn Bridge.

With scores of onlookers watching the dramatic 10 a.m. rescue by cops, the crass camerawoman turned her back to the scene, angled her phone toward the bridge and snapped a shot.

The scarf-clad blonde even cracked a thin smile.

When approached by The Post afterward, she suddenly became camera-shy.

“I’d rather not,” she said when asked for her name. She then hustled out of Brooklyn Bridge Park.

I suppose she’ll be famous – notorious, I hope – once her friends and co-workers identify her.

State Department buys pile of bricks art for $1 million.  “With the White House closed off to school kids”, WH spokesman Jay Carney said, “and millions of Americans worried about losing their medical insurance next month, this will give them something else to think about.”
