Antarctic ice set new records, the North Polar cap is still frozen solid and it’s snowing in Cairo.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

2013 has been a gloomy year for global warming enthusiasts. The sea ice in the Antarctic set a record, according to NASA, extending over a greater area than at any time since 1979 when satellite measurements first began. In the Arctic the news is also glum. Five years ago, Al Gore predicted that by 2013 “the entire North polar ice cap will be gone.” Didn’t happen. Instead, a deflated Gore saw the Arctic ice cap increase by 50% over 2012. This year’s Arctic ice likewise exceeded that of 2008, the year of his prediction. And that of 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Weather between the poles has also conspired to make the global warming believers look bad. In December, U.S. weather stations reported over 2000 record cold and snow days. Almost 60% of the U.S. was covered in snow, twice as much as last year. The heavens even opened up in the Holy Land, where an awestruck citizenry saw 16 inches of snow fall in Jerusalem, almost three feet in its environs. Snow blanketed Cairo for the first time in more than 100 years.
2013 marks the 17th year of no warming on the planet. It marks the first time that James Hansen, Al Gore’s guru and the one whose predictions set off the global warming scare, admitted that warming had stopped. It marks the first time that major media enforcers of the orthodoxy — the Economist, Reuters and the London Telegraph – admitted that the science was not settled on global warming, the Economist even mocking the scientists’ models by putting them on “negative watch.” Scientific predictions of global cooling – until recently mostly shunned in the academic press for fear of being labeled crackpot – were published and publicized by no less than the BBC, a broadcaster previously unmatched in the anthropogenic apocalyptic media.

The main stream media likes to remind us that we live in an era of instant gratification. The global warming craze was just that – most especially for Al Gore.
The falsification of the Global Warming Theory is not yet widely known. The MSM has yet to adequately report on it. If you relied on the NY Times and the broadcast network news reports, you would be largely ignorant of the facts. The President and the Secretary of the Interior ( “I hope there are no climate-change deniers in the Department of Interior“) clearly aren’t in the know.
Reluctance to admit error is a powerful force, and I suspect that the MSM will slowly reduce coverage of Global Warming (or Climate Change) to the vanishing point. It will die a slow death and Al Gore will slowly become a non-person.
When Liberals are wrong, they just forget their error and move on: Nuclear Winter, the Population Explosion, Limits of Growth, Peak Oil, running out of resources, and imminent mass starvation have all disappeared down the memory hole of Liberal Hysteria Mistakes.
The trouble is, as I see it, that there are so many billions of dollars at stake: every liberal dream project that couldn’t get funding in the past has now been recast as a global warming “solution”: high speed trains, express bus lanes, inner city trolly cars, etc., and the construction unions and manufacturers are piling into the trough. Add the billions Wall Street’s making on funding all the make-work, subsidized enterprises like windmills and ethanol, then toss in the ultimate liberal wet dream, central government control, and the incentives to keep this sham going are huge.
I predict a tough battle, and certainly one that won’t be aided by the main stream press.
Humans are the only Species so far that can plan for the future.
Learning from the past we need to plan for warming and cooling.
Transition in either direction will, has included dramatic, severe periods of weather events.
There was 1.5 miles of ice above New England 10,000 years ago.
Cairo was abandoned for Luxor 3,500 years ago for 150 years because a Mini Ice Age occurred in just 25 years, salinating the Nile by trapping fresh water at the Poles.
Rivers, streams, harbors are essential to humans, real planning can and has been rational in places like Switzerland and Holland for close to a thousand years.
Even Greenwich did it near right until exactly 50 years ago when Robert Moses Power Broker Planning hijacked our sanity.
Are we going to get back to landowner driven Planning or stay with the Pork feces worship model currently “expertly” carried out by the Politically Korrect Green & Dumb, too large Town Hall parasites ?
Will Greenwich lead as a Green Tea Party Town or continue as the leader in the Califonication of Connecticut?
