Welcome to the new year, 1984

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.”

White House now denies the administration set a goal of 7 million customers signed up for ObamaCare by March. And the Messiah never drew a “red line” in the sands of Syria. Peace is war, enemies are friends.

Just this past Tuesday, HHS secretary Sebelius claimed that “2.1 million Americans have enrolled in ObamaCare”,  while neglecting to mention that at least half that number has not paid their first premium and refusing to give an age breakdown of the happy new insured. As Glenn Reynolds points out, “if they numbers were good, they’d be telling us.”

Still waiting for my Anthem Blue Cross bill and cards….supposed to be enrolled as of today. WTF!!
Happy New Year to you and yours, good buddy.

  2. My guess is that at least half got enrolled in the newly expanded Medicaid program and won’t pay any premiums at all. Most private doctors aren’t taking new Medicaid patients because the rates are so low, so they’ll just keep going to the ER

Plus they fail to mention the millions that were forced to enroll thanks to the cancellation of their “noncompliant” plans.

PS – UninsuredFenian should call Anthem at 855-748-1804 to pay his bill by phone (only Visa accepted) before January 10 or he is not covered. You’ll have to wait 2 hours on hold to get a person and I recommend giving the person a call back number in case you get disconnected (like I did) and avoid having to call back to wait an hour and a half more to get another person.

If this is a democratic society I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn!

Who knows, maybe they’re being truthful. Maybe their original target was 14 million enrolled by March.

The other aspect of ObamaCare that is still unfolding is the contraception mandate exception filed by companies like HobbyLobby. It’s failed once but two days ago Justice Sotomayor gave it temporary new legs. She’s quite the liberal so I don’t see her stay actually saving those companies from being forced to give birth control to its employees but there’s a sliver of hope.

  8. The Unaffordable Care Act, aka ObamaKare, will cost my family of moderate means an estimated additional $6,000 per year. Money we dont have which will cut discretionary spending, which will impact other businesses such as restaurants, book stores, movie theathers, etc. Unintenexe consequences of a law written by people who have never had to earn a living.

The ripple effect through the economy won’t be so much a ripple as a catastrophic tsunami. This is why ivory tower Ivy Leaguers should never permitted to leave campus once they commit to any time in academia beyond their own degree programs.

Mine is costing me $5000 more a year. Money I will have to work hard to get. It is very frustrating since all the media is doing is giving Obama his day to spin how successful this stupid law is.
