18 Pinecroft, original
18 Pinecroft is now down to $6 million. Owners paid $6.5 million for it when it was new in 2004 and piled still more money into it fitting it out. I think it’s a great house, but you have to get past its exterior to appreciate that, and the original asking price 400 days ago of $7.250 made that harder to do.
(It occurs to me that if a Russian comes along and buys this at an even-further-reduced price, we can say it was reduced to ruble)

They just bred with humans, and were assimilated.
2 Wooddale, the new construction that started at $11.995 and immediately found a buyer, closed at $11.750.
31 Vista Drive
31 Vista Drive, on the other hand (same listing agent as Wooddale), started out four years ago at $16.750, dropped oh-so-slowly to $7.995 and that finally triggered multiple bids: closed yesterday at $8.5 million. It’s 3-acres of okay waterfront – forget the house, this was always a land sale.
2 Crescent Rd
In Riverside, 2 Crescent reports a contract, asking $2.295 million. I’m a little surprised at this asking price because it sold in 2007 for $2.360 and generally, Riverside prices have caught back up to ’07 prices and surpassed them. It was in beautiful shape back in 2007 but I see that it was rented out for a period after that. Perhaps it deteriorated a bit. Good house, regardless, for this price.
And dumb as dirt
Smoking Gun: Man arrested for drunk driving and assault while wearing a “drunk as shit” Tee shirt.
An Oregon motorist wearing a “Drunk As Shit” t-shirt was arrested Sunday night on a DUI charge.
Ross McMakin, a 21-year-old Corvalis resident, was collared after he drove his vehicle on the sidewalk, struck a parked car, and then assaulted his girlfriend when she tried to seize the car keys.
According to cops, McMakin, seen in the adjacent mug shot, was behind the wheel because his girlfriend did not know how to drive a stick shift.
McMakin was charged with an assortment of crimes, including drunk driving, reckless endangerment, harassment, and strangulation (for throttling his girlfriend).
Driving while stupid should also be a crime; a felony, in fact.
Banished to the man cave
Poll of (British) home buyers reveals that they’re turned off by mirrored ceilings, nudes on velvet and stuffed, dead hunting trophies. Go figure.
If you want to make the most of the property boom and sell your home, it might be best to take down any wood chip wallpaper[never heard of the stuff over here, but it seems to be a bumpy wall covering – Ed] , mirrored ceilings or nude portraits first.
A survey has revealed that these are the biggest turn-offs for would-be buyers, with more than a third of people (39 per cent for woodchip) saying they find them ‘unattractive’ in a property.
They were closely followed by avocado bathroom suites (31 per cent), a taxidermy collection (24 per cent) and 1980s DIY paint effects such as rag-rolling (20 per cent).
I’m a little surprised that avocado bathroom suites have fallen out of favor, but there you have it – investment bankers, take notice.
What’s not to like?
