Random encounters of the best kind

Son John and friends performed on Little Cranberry Island in Maine last night and had a wonderful time before an appreciative, friendly audience. But the best part, he tells me, was meeting a local artist, 91-year-old Ashley Bryan, who invited them to his house for tea this morning and spent hours regaling them with tales of his art, his life (Cooper Union, D-Day, professorship) and his philosophy. I agreed with John that it’s these moments in life that make it so sweet, and I’m so glad he had the chance to have (another) one.

Thanks for sharing. Cool dude and I’d never have heard of him otherwise. The bookworm in me likes this quote:

“There are so many ways in which we learn about life and the self. Each day opens paths to this exploration. For many of us, books play a major role in that adventure” ~ Ashley Bryan
